It’s just my opinion, but I feel as though First Full Codex will be Venom 28.
Do we think that comic shops will have bumped their orders for Venom 28? Effectively making this appearance more like the Batman 92 in that it’s a big punchline appearance however stores have ordered 1 million copies thus neutralizing the value?
Or are the stores not focused on this unnamed character with zero information who hasn’t even spoken. I’m not seeing a ton of interest in this character outside of this forum thread. I kind of want to load up on Venom 28, but not if it has a massive print run
I like giveaways that try to engage people but for the most part, it’s been a colossal failure in the past. Seems like most people just want to throw their name in the hat to win, not actually spend a few minutes to win…
And if it’s true they’re saying the 1:100 is a Stegman Sketch Variant, it’s gonna likely be this cover that’s a sketch… So everyone is counting on a Codex cover but I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Virus but they were disqualified because the character already existed in the MU. Silly us, thinking that would stop Cates…

This thread is so long I may have lost what you are referring to. The swinging cover is the A cover for 27. Some are just using it on their 28 listing too as the 28 art isn’t out yet (assuming it’s probably related to a surprise in 27 - Anne or the avengers).
The 27 1:100 is the sketch of Stegman’s cover B I believe.
I think they end 27 with a tease/cliff hanger that has everyone jumping at Venom 28.
Why wouldn’t you draw this out and build the hype for 28. My question is, will shops be bumping their orders for Venom 28 and producing a larger print run than issues Venom 25 etc.

Because the cover art could reveal a part of the story line in #27 so they wait to reveal after #27 is in people’s hands… That’s usually the case when they keep covers secret for this long while they have already revealed issue #29… we know Codex exists… so the cover doesn’t really tell too much.
When it comes to value, that’s where the market decides ultimately. If you’re wanting to know which is the safer bet? Go with the official releases (in this case, the trade) as they have a better overall track record of desirability and demand over time…
Store variants are hit or miss when it comes to speculating and investment. Most of the time they’re quick flips if you can find them cheaper but they normally come initially at a premium price.
When a store variant uses an existing art for the cover and just strips away the trade dress or just black and whites it… I don’t even bother myself. I’d rather spend cover price on a book and it’s cover than say $20 or more for the same cover that’s only exclusive out of a specific store.
Only buy store variants if you like them is my golden rule…
Typically when a store does an exclusive the print run on the trade is 3ish times more then the virgin and the virgin is more valuable.
But in instances when the exclusive is just the virgin of a regularly issued book (this trade was a regular issue, not an exclusive), the virgin tends not to be as popular.
