Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney Plus Speculation - SPOILERS

Obi Wan vs Vader - cool cool, give the fans what they really want

Overall, this show has been a huge letdown. Keep Deborah Chow away from the franchise.

It was ok. I like some of the scenes with Vader and the action/effects was not bad. But after all these years of waiting for more, it was a little of a let down. I think if it was written better it could have been awesome. I do look forward to the next season.

I understand what you’re saying about the Jedi code and not killing unless necessary but I would argue, that he was face to face with a Sith Lord. Remember Mace Windu? He was ready to kill Sidious because he understood that letting him live would be too dangerous. I would think Vader would fall into the same category.

I was waiting for a bunch of Tusken Raiders to come out and kill Reva McIntire. Really thought they were going to come out of the woodwork in the rocky area.

I agree. After what Kenobi saw in the Inquisitor “cemetery”, there is no way he lets Vader live. Makes no sense. Plot hole.

They really made Vader a even bigger wuss. Makes me question how Dooku could beat Obi Wan but not Anakin in a lightsaber duel.

It was great seeing the callouts to the comics.

Enjoyed the duals. The show was awful. If you strip out all the nostalgia and shared history from the franchise snd saw the show “on its own” it reminds me of some corny CW show. It’s certainly not prestige TV, and that is a shame. Too bad HBO didn’t own the IP to make something interesting.

The show needed more Teeka. That’s what was missing.

I loved the fight with vader and obi-wan in the last episode. I loved the mask being cut on vader and how his voice box was messed up and you got a mix of vader and anakin’s voice. That line he said was great - “i am not your failure. You didn’t kill anakin, I did.” That scene was the best part of the series. Well acted.

I want more Vader shows. I really want to see a ‘Vader: Jedi Hunter’ show. A show that shows how they collected the bodies on display in episode 3.

There are quite a few items to take issue with during the series, but these are not on my list.

Vader never finishes the first sentence in ANH, so it could mean anything. Their interaction in ANH was cringeworthy. I’m glad the finale provided a real duel between the two that was worthy of both characters.

The second issue was addressed pretty straight forwardly at the end of the episode when Obi-Wan tells her that nobody is to know they met and they need to be very careful. There is a greater than 0% chance her message could have been intercepted. For someone to learn that a Senator had knowingly interacted with an enemy of the Empire would have put herself, obi-wan, and the Rebellion in even greater danger. I don’t see an issue with the way in which she opened that message.

Okay… But a Senator openly asking for the help of a Jedi (public enemy number one in the Empire) isn’t equally as damning if the message is intercepted?

Disney has 30+ years of Post-ROTJ to play with that won’t contradict or diminish events that happened during the 6 episode saga. Disney knows but won’t admit that the sequel trilogy is an absolute dumpster fire, it isn’t liked by fans, and they NEVER had an overarching plan for it. They flew by the seat of their pants and it shows. So now they’re trying to backfill gaps in the original saga in an effort to save face, but they’re only failing harder.

Oh, and Vader not finishing the sentence is not an open invitation to adlib some BS story. George’s vision was clear: Obi-Wan and Vader hadn’t met since Mustafar. With your interpretation Obi-Wan and Vader could have dueled 5 minutes before Leia’s corvette comes under attack from the Star Destroyer.

So when like challenged Obi-wans statement vader killed his father, he should have said, “well that’s what your father told me, anyway…”

Obi-wan asked a favor. She followed through as best she could. Even after 20 years. It ain’t great, but it’s good enough to tie a loose end created by the series and move on.

No one envisioned these stories 45 years ago. It ain’t going to be seamless.

Think of these movies as someone a long time from now in a galaxy far far away trying to recollect or piece together events….

Damning, yes, but it wouldn’t have implicated her father…who was still alive at the moment she recorded the message.

I agree, no plan in regards to the sequels. They should have had Filoni on board and providing guidance.

Can you point me to a source for George’s vision?

Pretty sure most of the actors thought the original was going to flop big time. Also the original script before it was changed was awful. Didn’t anyone read the Dark Horse original script adaption? If they hadn’t changed it, Star Wars would not be what it is today I think.

Was just thinking the same thing. Came across my copy when reorganizing the other day.

Disney owns this now. What George envisioned or wants is pretty much moot. In fact, after what he did with the remakes of E4-E6 I’m glad he sold out.
