Online Comic Store Report Card

Contact TFAW. That’s what makes them stand out from the others for me. We’ve all had our damaged books show up and everytime TFAW steps up and handles it. There have been others who fixed the issues but time and time again, they seem to go the extra mile for the most part.

I can’t even get Midtown to respond at times. I’ve had their books come dinged up and it wasn’t even worth the hassle cause they either want a novel amount of pictures or ask to return or suggest some shitty discount…

With almost all of my purchasing done through online stores or ebay, I haven’t had any issues with any online stores. Sure, some have been a little late, but I can’t afford weekly shipping, so I am used to getting titles after they have already been out. Ebay sellers, on the other hand, are a mixed bag; some books come loose in a bubble envelope, no bag, no board, bent in every direction, while some are shipped like an online store. Many of the online stores have really upped their game.

Did you have them bag and board? That’s a lot of books to be crammed in a Gemini.

I received an order from Sanctum Santorum today. Excellent packaging. I only spent about $20 but received packing that was like they were sending me $500 comics. Very impressed. Will order again.

Yes - all bagged and boarded. It’s the mailer that they use which is one step above the envelope. Not sure if it’s an official gemini but yeah - it’s not a box.

The circled corner is the one that got impacted/damaged.

I can’t fit more than 5 with bags/board in a Gemini…12 is crazy.

That amount calls for a regular old box.

Just compared the mailer to a Gemini that I have - it’s slightly bigger than the Gemini.

Not sure a box would’ve helped but what do I know.

The package is literally going from the NW corner of the country to the SE corner, lol. That’s a super long distance transit - I’m sure it got tossed left and right throughout the journey.

Yeah our “gemini” mailers aren’t gemini, they’re something that is custom made from a supplier. For regular size comics I believe the max that will fit is 13 or 14. They’re bigger, since they can also be used for GNs that are bubble wrapped. Usually things just get upgraded to a box because the weight difference is negligible when it gets to 10+, so I’ll have to double check if any of the newer people were using it as a hard rule or something.

I too was shorted by DCBS on my Venom 27 3rd ptg preorders. 10 copies ordered and zero received. After I emailed them about it they came back and told me they only received two copies of it from diamond in total. This is the third time I’ve been a proxy victim of what appears to be diamond seeking some revenge against DCBS/lunar for stealing their DC business… do you guys start to get that feeling too?

Got a small order from TFAW. Everything was fine and packed well. I swear I had bags and boards checked but I wasnt charged for them so I must have changed it after this order so no big deal. Have another order processing. A large expensive order with 61 comics total and at least one 1:100. Hope everything shows up the same as this last order.

Was a busy Sat bunch of packages

Unknowncomics this my biggest box so far

That’s so weird DCBS didn’t get any Venom 27 3rd prints didn’t hear about allocations anywhere. I got 37 copies from different retailers and am a much smaller operation than DCBS

When you order using add to cart it doesn’t use your preorder options like add a bag and board you have to manually select it.

Two copies total?! If that’s actually true, I would also assume that’s Diamond flipping them off.

I thought I would recieve 6 comics of the Venom 27 3rd print through DCBS so I didn’t even try anywhere else as they usually come through with what I order but not this time. Not one single copy, so I’m really watching them now to see how well they deliver and in what condition as a few of my last shipments have not been up to their previous standards of shipping either. My copies of Captain Marvel were eat up with spine ticks and you could tell it was from shifting around in the box.

Received an order from The Comic Mint today. Placed a pre-order for a Thor CGC 9.8 and a few Venoms (all store exclusives). These were packaged extremely well. The two raws were in a Gemini inside the main box. Felt like triple, maybe quadruple layers of protection. Gorgeous covers. I don’t think you can ship much better than this.

Dude, two copies for the entire operation. They must be one of diamond’s largest accounts. This is clearly a middle finger. I’ve opened an account with TFAW and will be ordering all my 2nd+ printings from them from now on. If DCBS has one more marvel “shortage” I’m going to use them for DC only. And looking at what’s coming after Death Metal, that might mean they straight lose me as a customer. That’s close to $500/month they’ll lose out on. I asked them why they didn’t alert me when they received a shipment with 2 out of 1000+ copies they expected. If they had I could have grabbed it anywhere else. By the time they responded to my email asking why it wasn’t filling (8 days later) it was sold out everywhere. I’m sour with DCBS right now.

I find it hard to believe as well but I just cannot fathom them deciding to just hoard all their preorders

It could be that they were shorted or got damages and by the time they reported it to Diamond, Diamond was out of any extra copies. That’s what happened with us and that Venom variant a couple of months ago. Diamond just straight up missed giving us the issues we ordered, and when we sent in our list of things they missed or that needed replacements due to damage, they were already out of all their overflow copies.
