Not neccesarilly a store, but props to IDW. After a few not-so-great shipping/packing jobs from publishers who were selling con exclusives and things all year, I got the Canto 1 3rd prints I ordered from IDW, and they packed them as well as I’d expect an online store to pack theme. Definitely a nice change of pace from the Horizon Zero Dawn debacle…
Same. Got an order from IDW last week and it was packed very well, package was crisp as can be. Comic was bagged + boarded and then protected with bubble wrap. They also threw in a couple FCBD books - I’ve always wanted a My Little Pony comic book.
Shout out to IDW. Think I’ll order directly from them again.
Perfect example of one of the reasons I stopped using Midtown Comics. I just got this e-mail from them this morning and sent my reply just a little bit before posting this here.
Yeesh, that looks messy. Let us know what happens.
Wow. That’s crazy.
Just got an ebay preorder of 20 comics and the seller managed to stuff 20 comics in one gemini holder.
most of the books were nicked up.
Thats some ballsy and negligent shit right there. Terrible decision.
Well to my surprise Midtown actually handled it well. It doesn’t explain why it happened in the first place but as someone who works in a call center I always tell customers who just want to yell about what happened "We can continue to talk about the past and what happened or we can move forward and talk about how I am going to make this right for you’.
Wow Graham Cracker Comics just lost my business. Literally just got off the phone with their web manager Chris. I ordered some books from them that came out 10/21. They hadn’t shipped. I called because the address on the invoice was wrong and I wanted to make sure they sent the books to the correct address (mind you my previous orders from them all had the correct address so not sure why it would enter my old address.) Anyway, he told me there was a “pricing error” on the book and the reason they hadn’t shipped them was because they wanted $30 more for the book. I said no take it out of the cart and ship the other two books. He said, “well more bad news, one of the other books we also had a pricing error on and will need you to pay $30 more for that one.” I said no thanks cancel my orders and I will just stop ordering from you guys and continue with Midtown, Mycomicshop and tfaw. He said great, hope you enjoy their service. I said I have so far and have always had them honor their prices. I said I will also be happy to spread the word you guys ask for more money for books. He said great, we appreciate the free advertising.
So… so long Graham Cracker. What could have been a great relationship turned completely sour.
Poor boy has honored their mispriced books for me didn’t even mention it. Tfaw the same. Even Sad Lemon and Midtown have honored things wrongly priced for me. Grahamcrackers pulled this same give me $39 more a book thing on me and they also limit all new books to one copy now so not much use to me anymore.
They said they emailed me four time. The only emails I have gotten from them is order confirmations and shipping notices. He said he would forward the email chain but never did.
I’ll never order from them now. Thanks for the heads up.
So far I have had great experiences with TFAW and MCS. I have never had any damage issues with midtown but have had substantial delays.
Unknown, poorboy and street level have all been good but I have only done a couple orders with each.
I got some store exclusive phantom starkillers from third eye comic and they were good.
Sad lemon still needs to ship me some momoko x of swords creation 1 that were ordered over a month ago, although when I emailed them for an update the first time I got a response in under an hour and he helped me setup my account properly.
Golden Apple also did a good job with a recent order.
2 for 2 with Collectors Cave.
Second order came in today. 3 comics - zero issues. Happy with the package that was received.
Another MCS order came in today.
Have to give them mad credit for the packaging - The Last Ronin was placed in a magazine sized bag+board and sandwiched alone between a pair of cardboard sheets. Remaining comics were stacked together and wrapped firmly in a plastic bag. They even taped the stack of standard comics to the The Last Ronin cardboard sandwich so that it was unable to shift around in the packaging. The whole lot of books was then placed within a super sturdy cardboard mailer - the books basically had zero chance of moving around within the package - zero. 1st class.
As for the books:
6 comics:
- Batgirl 50 cover B had 3 nasty ticks on the front cover. Hate when DC card stock covers have ticks like this man - to me it’s a real kick in the nuts but oh well.
Also, SIKTC #11 showed up in lesser condition that I had hoped - another kick in the nuts because we’re talking about BOOM and their solid, card stock covers that should be a lot harder to ding up, but I digress.
Remaining 4 books were great and The Last Ronin was borderline immaculate.
4/6 is good. It’s nice to receive a package of books that is not mostly damaged due to warehouse negligence and/or carrier mishandling. Will continue to do business here.
Were the comics reasonably priced when you placed the order (like below ratio, but above cover) or did they really make a mistake.
Not that it matters, but I’m curious if they’re really pricing mistakes or just trying to grab more money if a book they pre-sold gets hot.
They were priced below ratio, a good amount below. But my problem was they never contacted me, even though they said they did, and just held my money until I called nearly a month later to change my address. I wouldn’t have gotten the refund even if it wasn’t for noticing that my address was wrong on this order and calling them. They would have just held the money.
I ordered some stuff from Tiny Onion. It’s a publisher, not an LCS. But there is still an online store. Comics arrived
In great shape. I had an issue with an outstanding order. Emailed the gmail address and had a pleasant and timely response. It was the writer’s email address (Tynion), but I don’t assume he handles customer service. In summary: would buy direct from Tiny Onion again. Very responsive customer service.
same here. I received the sets of Department of Truth #1 foils that I purchased. All books were immaculate ! I am certain that Tynion actually did ship these books because he stated so in his newsletter. Moving forward he has outsourced the shipping of books to another group. Far too time consuming for him.
