Online Comic Store Report Card

It is always a pleasant surprise when a store actually exceeds your expectations!

Well my Unknown Saga comes to a close today as the books arrive over a month past when they printed the label.

So, how were the books? Meh.

They used one thin sheet of bubble wrap that wasn’t taped to the books at all. Since the books were not taped to the mailer the bubble wrap had slipped down in the many days it was in the mail and offered no real protection.

What I ordered:
Spider-Woman #1 Dell Otto Fan Expo Dallas Variant
Amazing Spider-man 1 Phillip Tan Variant
Amazing Spider-man 798 Dodson Virgin Variant
Avengers #1 JTC Art Deco Variant (I like this cover)
Venom #5 Virgin
Venom #12 C2E2 Variant

The reason I said meh about the books was these were all sale (buy 3 get 3) stock. The Venom 12 had more tics than a corn field. Non-color breaking but still, these were definitely “sale stock”

Damn that sucks… and I assumed the sale was for hard to move books or lower grades but that’s terrible.

I’m gonna starting using this phrase. Thanks for sharing it!

I was thinking the same thing. This is my new favorite comic phrase.

As someone who grew up running in cornfields, yeah it’s true.

At least you didn’t have to worry about Lyme disease…

Was that during your platinum blonde hair and red contact lense days?

Never ran into ticks growing up
In England. Came to Oklahoma and woke up with this black round thing hanging out of my belly. I was terrified I was growing a tumor. What a disgusting species.

I got my 2nd order I’ve made with @PCKComics on Saturday. I ordered some recent issues, “Thor.” Issues #7-#10 to be precise. I gave my friend the first trade paperback for Christmas and he loved it so I told him I’d get him the other issues. I was very pleased with my shipment from PCK and will continue to buy from them.

I ordered several books from Unknown. They took 2 months to get to me and they came in damaged. They were actually packed pretty well and it was clearly a courier issue since their was a giant gouge in the box. The biggest problem is that after multiple emails they wouldn’t do anything because I had lost the original packing slip.

I still had the box, shipping label, and the comics were their own exclusives so they couldn’t have come from anywhere else yet they still refused to do anything because I couldn’t produce the packing slip

That is the lamest excuse ever… There’s a record of you purchasing the books, there’s tracking, you have a package with the label on it… sigh! If I have to go get my social security card replaced, one of the things you can bring in to prove who you are is a letter (utility bill) with your name and address on it. Next time tell them they failed to put a “invoice” in the package… :man_facepalming:

Agreed, It was like a $30 order and I gave up fighting it.

I would have just put in a dispute with the credit card company, they would have sided with you…

I would have but part of the problem was I had let a bunch of stuff pile up before opening it so it was several weeks before I opened the package.

My TFAW adventures continue. Got 8 books in a gemini. No bag, paper wrap, bubble wrap, no special care for the incentives like others have mentioned. But, a single extra backing board was placed on top of the stack of books. Ha!

Books were all loose, but thankfully, all magically arrived in great condition. Got lucky on this one. I swear the books have been packaged differently for each of the last 5-6 orders with TFAW. Still far from convinced that they have packing figured out. Or I’ve just pissed somebody off there. @RipCityGamer, I’m sorry!

Side note: TFAW’s shipping never seemed to hit the delays that we all saw/are still seeing. Takes 13-15 days from “processing” kicks in to the books arriving at my door consistently. No different in December.

I just got my 12/16 order today about 40 books big box, no wrap, plenty of packing peanuts, and all minty.
