Wild. Maybe if I ordered 50 copies of each book it would water down the ratio of damaged copies and I’d feel better about my purchases, but when I order 1-2 copies of each book and get a damaged one, versus 20-30 copies that yields 2-4 damaged ones… well that makes a hell of a difference in terms of experience.
60% of my TFAW orders have been damaged during shipment. Mind you that’s 5 out of 8 orders so take that for what it’s worth. Some worse than others - some didn’t warrant contacting customer service.
Anyways - it is what it is. I will still shop there but the damage rate and lack of consistency just sucks for me. One order arrives bubble wrapped the next one the books are just placed in the center of the box with not even a paper wrap around them (today’s order).
I post on this thread to share feedback - today’s order wasn’t terrible, but sure as hell wasn’t satisfactory either.
Having said all this, TFAW is still my #1 source for online purchases at this time.
I agree none of the services are perfect, whether is TFAW, midtown, MCS, unknown, DCBS, westfield and others. each has its strong points however I am going to give unknown comics and others who don’t charge tax, have free shipping and free bag and boards a shot. this along saves me $100 a
month, which i can spend on more comics.
Finally got my order from tfaw and I gotta say I’m massively disappointed. Books came in a flimsy cardboard envelope with no cardboard or protection so all the books ended up getting the same nasty crease in the same spot. https://imgur.com/a/QrMEgK2. I also got an order from midtown and those came packaged decently although the open flap just crumples up the flap part a lot. I already have a bunch of other orders in from tfaw and too late to cancel them so i’m praying things improve. I only got 3 books, 2 high republic variants but that sucks.
I’m only going to be satisfied with a delivery service that drives it to my house directly from diamond, in an armored car, in a fireproof, locked, briefcase.
They choose to use those shitty flimsy mailers so it’s TFAW s fault for using shit product. Look at how many people just today complained about them. If you get damaged books write them and complain.
It’s not completely their fault though. I’ve had more of these rigid mailers show up in pristine condition than come beat up and damaged. And one of those times was when my mailman decided he was going to bend it in half to make it fit in my mailbox. It was likely mint with no issues until he did that. I left him a nasty letter on the mailbox, it never happened again after that. I’ve had just as many damages in gemini from them. The only time I haven’t had any damages is when my order is big enough to warrant a box with peanut packing.
Yeah I had two separate orders from TFAW arrive recently in those and they were fine. However in my experience they arrive most of the time damaged when people use those mailers. I’m worried about my current and next few orders from them because I spent about twice what I’d usually spend on preorders.
I’ve gotten flimsy mailers before and so far, I haven’tt gotten any damaged ones (not from TFAW but other places). I got some from Titan Comics when they did the Horizon exclusive. I think it’s also the mail people who don’t treat them right.
Yeah but are we expecting the post office or any other shippers to treat every and all packages as if they contained the hope diamond? Knowing that they can be rough on packages they shouldn’t use them. There the only place that uses them. I mean aside from the occasional eBay seller.
I once had a package marked with “Do Not Bend” and it was an actual book being sent by media mail. The lady at the counter went on to point at it and tell me, “well, media mail they’re gonna treat it roughly” that’s when I proceeded to point out… “Doesn’t matter how I ship the item, it’s not your property, I’m only paying you to transport it from point A to point B, I’m not giving you permission to damage my property”. She kind of looked at me, smiled and said, “you know, you got a point”.
I’m more thinking the truck takes a hard turn and things shifting around. Christ a carrier could easily damage it just sticking it in his bag. I mean there’s so many hands on these items. I guess my point is why take the chance of having damaged items with inferior packaging.
Well very true. But the last time I had a rigid mailer damaged, the mailman literally folded it in half to make it fit. One would think, any type of common sense tells one that a rigid mailer is to prevent the contents from bending… but ya… sadly it cost TFAW as they sent me replacements.
I actually switched to the tfaw like rigid mailers with a piece of cardboard and a do not bend stamp/sticker for any comic order under $10 and I state that in my listings now. Anything over $10 still gets a gemini.
I actually bought 50 myself, cause I knew over the summer I would have a bunch of single issue sales when comics were popping left and right. But yes, I shoved so much cardboard in mine to protect the book. None were ever damaged in transit.
Just delivered about an hour a go. My largest Tfaw order to date 50+ books. Packaged well the books could be completely wrapped as opposed to that thin paper around the books. And an extra bubble wrap too. Books are in great condition only 2 books had scuffs but I can tell was Marvel print errors. No bangs. Dings. Folded covers. All good
What is going on with TFAW??? I opened my package today and outside of ratio variants NOT ONE comic was shipped with a bag and board even though I paid for them! Thank goodness the comics that were placed in between the ratio variants were undamaged (the High republic) but those placed on top did receive some bends (mostly the future state)
I should be able to press most of those but now that is time I have to take pressing comics that should have been packed better. TFAW need to get its shipping act together! I am having issues too often. I like their set up and customer service but I would really like to not have to keep contacting them!
