Shoot me a pm with your order number if you can. I want to make sure the warehouse can figure out which shipment it was, so we can see who packed that vs some of the other shipments that have been off.
@rob92807 make sure to contact CS about that. If your settings are selected for bag and board I’ve almost never seen anyone packing just forget them. May be a bug with the account, or with the order when it processed.
Different people packing. All I can think is yours may have been packed by one of the seasonal people or someone who hasn’t done it as long and was trying to be quicker. I have let the warehouse know on things people let me know about what the orders were though so they can start figuring out if it’s just one person doing things poorly, or what. And to make sure the people doing it well get positive recognition.
Quick question, if you don’t want to pay for bags and boards, is there another alternative as to how they are shipped? Say maybe out them in a bag bundled together?
Just got my shipment from PCK Comics and got to say they where packaged well. The tape came off but because they where bagged and board (at no extra charge) and inside another bag, they all arrived in great condition inside a Gemini mailer. Thanks PCK Comics I will be ordering more from you guys.
DCBS has decided to start charging me actual shipping. No warning. I just noticed an odd charge and emailed to ask what it was for. Then I get told it was for actual shipping due to the quantity I order. This seems like bad business to do this without warning or notice. There’s nothing on my order at all to even indicate this has happened and it’s nearly impossible to tell how much it actually was. Must be pretty nice to be able to charge actual shipping if and only if you actually lose money on the one line item. Not sure what to do. So many screw ups lately and now this… any advice?
I’ve read elsewhere that if they (unilaterally) decide you are buying amounts deemed likely to be for resale (which I guess is more than 2 of an item, but maybe you have to do this for lots of items), they charge you actual cost. There doesn’t seem to be any way to rectify it… maybe multiple accounts if the combined shipping is less that one deemed “reseller” account is?
I usually order 8 or 10 copies of about 4-6 comics in a given month with a few other books. Always at least two copies. It’s been this way since I started ordering from them about a year ago. The email stated that I should have been charged this for many of my prior shipments, like they were doing me a favor honoring our agreement for so long…? I’ve still got two more months worth of orders already paid for but a voice inside is telling me to try to cancel just from the principal of the thing. The only difference with this shipment from any other is that it’s humongous because they decided to just not ship my 2nd order of December.
That’s crap they point at so they can change the deal whenever they want. Just because a customer buys a lot doesn’t mean you can draw any conclusions about their intent. I think I’m going to switch to TFAW if I’m paying actual shipping costs. Less “shortages” too I’m sure
I hate that the said “speculation” as if no one who collects single issues speculates that at a later date the comics that they are buying will be worth more. Literally every single collector says that at some point they will end up doing something with them and hopefully they still have value.
Second, if they charged you for additional shipping, contact your card company. Forward them the original receipt or email and show them this was the agreed upon price. Also, you did not authorize the second charge and as such I sure as hell wouldn’t have to be on the hook for it.
And one more thing according to their terms. They are going to mark your account as a seller or speculator. I don’t want my account marked as anything that they may consider as undesirable. Big ole scarlet “S” on your account for speculator. Bet when it come time to fill items that are “allocated” guess which accounts probably get screwed.
That’s a really important point. Thanks for bringing that up. I’m going to have to sleep on this. On its face it’s pretty audacious that they do this and did it to me this way.
More I think on it…the more DCBS can take themselves to my “to hell with em” woodshed.
That shipping stuff is utter nonsense even though they haven’t pulled it on me (yet).
They are shady with their practices. I’ve just sort of let it slide as I’ve used them for years & never had huge issues.
However, as I really examine my orders, they love taking my money for books and sitting on it.
I pre-ordered America #1 a year ago as that was originally slated for last Spring. After all this time… it’s still on my orders. They had no issue sitting on that payment for a year. I also see some books that are clearly a no go that I ordered, paid for…still open (punisher vs barracuda).
My order history and such is so lengthy that it is kind of hard to find that sort of thing. Doesn’t help that their site is only a few steps forward from Mile Highs.
That’s one of the reasons we only charge when it’s ready to ship. There’s so many times things are shorted/allocated, damaged, delayed, cancelled, etc. that keeping track of it all every week is a nightmare for us, let alone for people with outstanding orders. And it shouldn’t be up to customers to keep track of whether or not something should be refunded because it was cancelled/delayed/put on hiatus.
@PCKComics I doubt that’s it. DCBS has some unique things about it that may be separate from other agreements. My guess is the main reason they stopped doing it was because it was causing their core business (their stores/site) to suffer. Especially in New York, COVID restrictions were tough, and the increased work in the warehouse to handle distribution on top of what I assume were increased web orders and having to maintain social distancing, cleaning, and all the other protocols must have been a nightmare.
