I got one this week. Comics went from 9.6 to 8.0.
I really wanted to support Comics Elite, but they just made mistake after mistake with my orders in the past. I tried to be polite and patient, and it seemed like they grew really, really fast which can cause those issues. In the end, I just got tired of having to remind them about orders, deal with lack of responses, etc.
There was never an issue with communication when they were seeking payment or sending invoices however.
It has been awhile since I had all the problems and stopped buying from them though. Perhaps they resolved their issues?
Just got my DCBS January shipment in. After reading some reviews (here and in other places) about problems with their shipping/inventory I was a little nervous, but everything arrived in awesome shape. I am relieved, since it included all but one copy of my High Republics. Now to finally read HR #1 lol.
It’s okay, just my opinion. Granted it is only one issue deep, but it blow my socks off. Maybe I am suffering from Star Wars fatigue.
TFAW order came in today (with my High Republic incentive covers). Alternating spines in a gemini; everything came in great shape! (It would be awesome if they’d put everything in a larger bag or tape the bundle so that individual books can’t move around/against each other, but this is a small thing since they were all pretty happy and snug in the gemini.)
Had black panther orders cancelled mmcomics on eBay and comixzone.com citing insufficient stock. They could really be out of stock, who knows, but they didn’t send any follow up messages apologizing or offering to make it right somehow. Additionally, Comix Zone’s automated email was pretty douchey.
Thank you for your order but, it has been canceled for the following reason(s):
We are sorry but we do not have sufficient quantities to fulfill your order. We will honor all quantity orders if placed by the “Final Pre-Order date”, after that it’s based on demand and quantity we have ordered. Unfortunately, you have missed the deadline.
Also, if you are a reseller it is our policy that we supply end users only. No dealers or re-sellers. I you would like to get guaranteed quantities of more than a couple copies you MUST have orders in by the “Final Pre-Order Date”.
Our site terms can be found here: https://www.comixzone.com/learn.asp.
We are sorry for any inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Team CZ
That seems a little catty. It’s odd as ComixZone has been great when I’ve used them to order stuff.
What’s the bs with not selling to resellers? They realize they’re in the business to sell books. Added to my list of places not to buy from.
That is an awful policy. They are basically saying your order means nothing if it is not pre-FOC and they will be the judge of who deserves the books most.
I never understood when shops or retailers care what happens to the product after it leaves their store. If I’m in the retail business, I’m doing it to move inventory… I buy at wholesale to sell at retail. The more I sell, the more I make. Once it leaves my store, I could care less what the buyer does with it. If they sell whatever I sold them for a billion dollars, great for them I say…
That’s what always confuses me. If someone buys it from you, and then re-sells it, who cares? They’re selling it for more than they paid to get it from you (and if they aren’t they’ll stop re-selling at some point…)
The only time I think it’s valid to prevent or block is in cases where a store will sell a new release below cost to do something like qualify for more incentives and can’t knowingly sell to people who will act as a store/retailer with them, because that violates the store’s agreements with pretty much every distributor I can think of.
I bet these are the same type who run for HOA positions, walk around the neighborhood and nitpick things wrong with YOUR house… “Oh no, Johnny has a flower that’s missing a petal, let’s fine him this month for not growing perfect flowers that don’t lose petals!”
I’m curious what’s the point of choosing show all and you still have to click to get to the next page? A bit redundant and defeats the whole point in choosing to showing them all.
If only I could find the ancient lost code to cracking which email addresses are linked to resellers! Then I could set up a semi-successful online comic book shop where I don’t send as many issues as possible to anybody who orders. But my research continues for now:
Hey @RipCityGamer - I typically have a few incentives with each order, and I noticed the number of bags/boards I’m charged for rarely matches the order total. But, it also doesn’t match the number of non-incentive books. Is the rule that you get a free bag/board with incentives that cost over $X?
I have been a part of a conversation online about shops that will check every price of books you bring to the counter on eBay. One guy who works for a shop in Arizona called Amazing Discovery has been particularly hostile and nasty in the conversation. He keeps using the logic if you pull a book out of a dollar bin they have the right to change the price on you at the counter. Sure they do. I also have the choice not to buy from them. Again, their PR guy is on the thread just calling people crooks for expecting books that are priced to ring up at that price. I did explain it’s not my job to pull books from your bins for you that are hot or keys that are priced so you can ring them up at higher prices. Have your staff do it.
So as promised, if you are in Gilbert Arizona, skip this shop. I know I will never spend a dollar with them.
I believe that’s the case but I’d have to look into it.
I guess this idiot isn’t a big fan of growing his customer base. I am also guessing that this idiot doesn’t understand the idea…nor the “lure” of the dollar bins. That’s ok. When he goes out of business, he’ll then have a clear understanding of both.
So I gave TFAW a complaint last night due to website issues, but now I want to give them props. This is probably well known throughout the forum how great TFAW does—actually all the talk on here finally convinced me to start using them (thanks- something else I owe you guys on now). Wish I had started ordering from them sooner. I am on preorder number 6 now and all are great- well packaged and worth the price paid. The time they charge me to the time shipped is reasonable. I’ve had nothing but a great overall experience with them and plan to continue getting preorders through them. I think they have probably taken over as my main online distributor.
I also would like to complement TFAW for their great job with the recent orders that were shipped to me. Comics were packaged very well with no issues whatsoever. Kudos to them.
