I’ve used G-Mart once and yeah they take forever to response and it took almost 3 weeks for an in-stock book to arrive. But they at least didn’t cancel my order cuz that book was selling for $30-$50 and I got it for cover so. That’s a plus.
Early on when seeking out online stores to buy comics, I found Mile High. I was like nope, not using a website that looks like it’s 25 years old using Frontpage.
Then I found G-Mart and was like… nope, they still using Dreamweaver from 2003 with shitty outdated CGI code for their pages.
I’d imagine if these numb nuts got their shit together, make their sites more modern, they might boost their sales a bit more… cause I’m not touching either of them.
Mile high is overpriced on everything so I never check them.
I’ve gotten lots of good stuff from g-mart. I think the fact that their website looks terrible might keep people away so there’s still good stuff to find.
I also like how it’s just a no nonsense list of what comics they have after you search. Looks bad but functions properly.
I hear crack is really good too, doesn’t mean I’m gonna take or use it…
Sorry, couldn’t resist being sarcastic. I hear ya, I’m just not touching G-Mart’s site. Maybe since I’m in the tech world, I expect better I suppose.
I just wish I didn’t have to search for a title, find irrelevant search results, click “view more/all”, find the series I’m looking for, click in, only to find every issue is out of stock except for the one issue nobody wants. That’s my issue with G-Mart. Prices are great on some things because you’re usually the only person with enough patience to find that thing, but it takes about 8-10 clicks more than it should to find a search result. Also, there’s no intuitive way to add more than one copy.
Exactly why I said… “modernize” their site… I bet they’d increase their business a shit ton more…
I even prefer MyComicShop whose interface is only mildly more intuitive purely because they have a filter button at the top of search results to allow you to filter out items that are out of stock. It’s a basic function pretty much all sites use to clear out chaff that is irrelevant and distracting. Sure it’s data (“this item is not in stock”), but it’s not relevant data and it slows down browsing. The reason it’s irrelevant is that your mind already infers a missing entry between 1 and 3 is out of stock without stopping on that entry and reading “out of stock.”
If you use the lower list of search results that’s just series titles it will just take you to a massive list of every volume of that series in numerical order.
You could just click Star Wars and it will start with the volume 1 1977 stuff and go all the way through the current volume 3 stuff.
That’s how I use it, I never get the search by issue to really work that well either.
That was basically how I saw it too. Sorry, but that first appearance means a lot and the impression it gave me was they simply don’t care enough. It’s not that hard to get a decent site together these days.
There are some others that look good on the opening page, but how you actually search and find comics is beyond me, smh…would love to know the “bounce” rates.
Impressions are definitely a big deal I think in gaining and attracting customers. You don’t maintain your website and neglect it by not keeping it up to date, then that’s likely how you’re treating your inventory and products you’re selling.
Mile High also hires crazy stalker bitchnuggets too…
Latest order from TFAW of 97 books. All in one big stack and the bubble wrap popped open so books moved a bit. Geez I have been giving feedback since last year about using smaller stacks of 15 to 20 but looks like they stuck to the 100 comic stack. Same result as my other tfaw orders, a bunch of nicked corners on the books on the bottom. While I am amazed how Westfield can send border line 9.8 books on orders of over 100 comics without any bags.
The 3 bears issue of TFAW, order cant be too big or too small or chances of damage skyrocket.
Yeah, unless you’re use to packing really big orders, the bigger also equals heavier so if carrier drops, game over.
I’ve gotten nervous packing up 50+ lot sales myself. I’d spend way too much time securing such things but my time is free and infinite when I’m doing it for myself. Doing it on the clock at a business, can’t spend too much time packing up orders, then you’re just losing money…
Now, I’m not saying TFAW is innocent cause yes, breaking those down into groups of 25 or so would greatly increase the chance of books sliding around compared to 100 or so just stacked.
Unknown sends books in stacks of 10-20 and I have never had an issue. I have not received one nicked books from unknown and thats with hundreds of books.
My TFAW orders come in stacks of ~20 but I don’t get them bagged and boarded. No issues since I stopped getting them boarded.
Yeah my TFAW order arrived today and I wasn’t impressed with the packaging. 25 loose books in a box with packing peanuts. The box was again to small and was bulging. A few corner impact creases. At some point I will learn my lesson. The box is always bulging and you can see where the boxes get crinkled up.
Is that “swell” person still sending ridiculous and belligerent messages?
No. He probably got the much needed help.
Update on G-Mart. They got in touch with me on Tuesday and issued a full refund. He also explained the delay which was more than satisfactory for me. Still doing the bulk of my preorders through TFAW.
