Online Comic Store Report Card

thanks for sharing your experience I am going to give them a try.

Yeah their website might need some updating.

If you email eric@kowabungacomics.com and ask to be put on the FOC list, he’ll respond pretty quick. They have mentioned that they are working on an online order form but as of now it’s done through email. I prefer it because it reminds me to order.

Tell him Chris Moore sent you. I swear I’m not a shill.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

What kind of pre-order discount do they offer and do they let you order ratio incentive variants?

Discounts seem to range from 35-50% depending on the publisher. They seem to offer all the ratio variants and typically unlock most/all of the party variants.

I’ve only ordered a few ratios off of them but I think they have a few ways of going about it (just order the variant itself, order the number of books to get the variant, etc). You’d have to ask them.

haha i don’t think you’re a shill. I just found two sties, one with a K and one with a C and only one of them had a mailing list on their website so that’s why I asked for clarification

Just got email from Beedas Thingamajig I’m going to give them a try

"Any item that is on the current monthly previews pre-order list works toward your discount. If you order 30 items or more you’ll reach the 35% discount. If you order 20 and up you’ll get 25%, if you order 10 and up you’ll get 15% off. This only applies to the actual monthly Previews pre-order items.

Final order cutoff weekly and general orders of in stock items are a standard 10% discount. You let us know how you want us to ship. We can combine shipments and do a monthly or ship as product becomes available.

Regarding retailer incentives and ratio variants, if there’s one you want, you just need to email us, and we’ll let you know the minimum order quantity to qualify for a cover price cost. For example, if you want a 1:10, you generally need to order 5 of cover A and you get the 1:10 at cover price. Make sense?

I hope you sign up."

I’ve been really happy with Beeda’s so far. Their customer service is A+ as well.

Thank you. I’ll give them a look as well.

I have been using Beedas as well. I just started last month so no shipments yet but between him, Unknown and Comix Zone I am confident I can get everything I order by the weekend after Wednesdays releases.

And the great thing about Beedas is it works like Tfaw, you can make changes up until the date given and you don’t get billed until comics are ready to ship. I probably would have stuck with DCBS but having to pay up front for the entire month can be pretty expensive in one shot. One heavy week can be $1000 if I am ordering like 10-20 copies of something we know will sell fast, like Stars Wars High Republic #1 was a really expensive week and I can’t imagine having to pay for another 3 weeks at the same time I paid for that lol

I signed up as well…I’m trying it out to see on getting a ratio. The site says to send them an email with the item code, but I can’t seem to find where the ratios are on the previews site.

Cool. Well I’m starting today with this weeks FOC orders and I’ll see what’s up.

Beeda’s just started sending out an email last Friday that list all ratio variants on FOC. They stated that they would start sending them out every Friday. Just another cool little detail.

Oh I understand. I was just reading through what I’d written and to me, I totally sounded like a shill. Ha!

How has the condition of the books been that you’ve received from them and do they offer free bags and boards?

I was talking about Beedas, not Kowabunga for free bags and boards

Just got a midtown order of 4 books in a gemini-ish type mailer. This time the books were stable and not moving around inside the package.

Books arrived in good shape. SIKTC 8th print had a couple of tiny spine tics tho - go figure. Anyway, satisfied with my copy… Imagine paying $30 for a raw copy of this book though, lol.

Shoutout to Midtown for selling these for $3.99.

Bags and boards are not free. They offer 3 different types, I think, for different prices. I get regular bags and boards and I think it’s .15 a book.

The books are usually in good shape. In 4 years I’ve probably had a handful of books that were dinged a little before shipping but for the vast majority, they arrive in the same condition that I imagine Diamond shipped them in.
