The publishers, hence shops are now getting allocated even before FOC.
Yep all Peach books use to be and move quickly. Now only the good art ones move. People are getting stuck with their Horizons, Crows, and even some of the store variants they thought would still move off Peachās name alone.
Holding back On Guaranteed orders/sales is a BAD business modelā¦
āHey, letās not fulfill these order and piss shops off, because pissing our customers off is whatās going to make them want to buy more from us!ā
Donāt buy this theory at all.
I donāt agree, think of it from a business perspective. Say they sell 100 books on average and 30 second prints (10 to people who missed it and 20 to collectors and flippers) for total 130 (note I believe the margins are higher on second prints due to less lead time , need confirmation).
Now they only print 80 but donāt tell anyone instead they allocate, now they have Increased value of book a since demand is higher than supply. Now they do a second print of 50 ( which should create more demand IF the flippers and speculators get the books first). They could then do a third print
Lastly the majority of collectors are willing to pay what they need to fill or keep continuity so they end up buying every copy. So, instead of selling them 1 book you sell them 3. You can do a lot of creative things when you control the supply with no regulatory body associated.
Personally, I think itās great for comics. That is my conspiracy theory for the day.
One last thought. They will also know which books to do it for since they have all the early orders so they know demand before they even create the supply. Therefore zero risk to them. The customer goodwill could plummet if this is a consistent practice but in reality they have no choice other than not buying.
I imagine most all stores hold a copy or two back of popular titles and issues, for selling full runs or back issues.
If you hold back copiesā¦allocate themā¦you potentially donāt get copies into the hands of the readers which means you lose potential sales for future issues as well. A casual reader who is interested in the book, but canāt find it because it was allocated and the speculators/flippers snatched up all copies isnāt necessarily going to know to ask for the reprint.
Itās better to fill all orders and then someā¦get as much out there as there is demandsā¦then reprint if there is still demand. And get as many hooked on/interested in the story and characters such that you can do the same for the next issue.
Thatās how you maximize profits.
Playing games with your customers at their expense is recipe for disaster.
We Only Find Them When Theyāre Dead - peach momoko
Iāve seen 9 covers for this book so far. Iām tempted to not buy any of them.
Iām a sucker for a glow in the dark cover.
Thatās the one Iām considering, but Iām trying to talk myself into it for $35.
I bought it I passed on the 1:50 for the book earlier in the week but that doesnāt glow in the dark and itās not Peach so should be a good hold or flipdipsky. Their Thor #6 variant sold out at sanctum thatās a good sign.
I think it might be a good deal. I could only put a little less than 300 in my cart and 30 of the cgc ones in my cart. I guess there is a possibility of a low print run, but only if it isnāt a shared exclusive.
I have it
One of my favs.
What is with the titles that are like paragraphs?
Iām going to write a comicā¦titled, āI left my house and went to work one day.ā
Seriously, if it takes up the whole cover maybe they should change the title.
Is it a Rosenberg book? Hes the king of books that have full sentences as the titleā¦
Have that in a 9.8, great cover!
Im not buying the book. Too much heat and store variants before FOC.
