Possible Last Big Purchase

Apologize to the other posters above, for not crediting them for some of my opinions. Didnt have time to review all the posts, but I think I am saying a lot of similar things as those above. Great discussion …

I would agree you, but at same time, I missed so many opportunity by being conservative =( (Last 10 years, had a chances to pick 1 up for UF4 CGC 9.8, Edge 2 CGC 9.8, Saga 1, Batman 251 CGC 9.2, Batman 232 CGC 9.2, and many more < $1K. Question to u. If you were to call it the last hoorah due to the obscene inflation of these slabs, which 1 would you go for if its gonna be ya last. OFC within range. As we discuss here, it becomes very clear that this hobby is no longer for kids but a bunch middle age dude (no offense, as I am one). Imagine dropping 1K or more as recent college grad or teen for a funny paper.

Middle aged dude here too, but sometimes my brain doesnt listen to my body !

My call - 9.8 UF4 IF I had disposable income for investment !

I am hoping that Saga picks up again, after the long hiatus. But I dont believe Saga 1 is the sure thing it once was (see Walking Dead).

If I were a kid, I’d take a job at an Amazon Warehouse, and use the earnings to buy a 9.8 or even a 9.6 UF 4 slab, heck even a raw copy. I would look at other Miles specs too !
I WOULD NOT do this for Edge 2, Echo or Ms. Marvel. I would just wait for an opportunity to find a deal for any other good specs.

Full disclosure, I do have a copy of a raw, bagged UF4, so I am happy !

If someone gave me $1000 just to invest to flip I’d grab highest grade UF4.

No hesitation.

I also have a 9.6 UF4 that I grabbed shortly after Into the Spiderverse came out for $135…and I thought at the time I was buying at a peak…and I still had to have it.

If they did rename Miles Spin that Bruce Lee Dj homage would become a big key.

I dont think they could make that stick but good observation (watch out KCC may use your idea  ) !

I would rather wait for the next Disney+ show announcement and buy the related books to flip before most of the world catch on. In the long run, I believe I would be better off.

I tried that with some Eternals books…

Yah, Eternals was a let down specs-wise…let’s discuss the successes in another thread.

lol

Other specs for sure … but the ROI and longevity would be better on UF4 (IMO).

To clarify, I am comparing investing $1000 in UF4 vs buying and flipping $1000 worth of related Disney+ books over the next few years. I think the returns on the latter could be better.

I buy $1000+ worth of comics every month to sell and not keep, if I bought Ultimate Fallout #4s I couldn’t make profit on them until they increased a good amount again, much more profitable to roll that money monthly into more things to buy and sell then have to hold for a year or more.

I think it depends on whether you’re looking at short-term flipping or a long-term keeper. I think UF4 is a long-term buy. I feel like most Disney+ spec, thus far, has been short-term, “sell-while-hot” books.

Could be…depends on the Disney+ property, and how good you are at speccing/flipping.

We are talking about which strategy - short-term flipping or long-term investment - produces the better return. As speculators and investors, this is key.

Eternals will see spikes again. It is back to a long-ish hold until more information about its future in the MCU is put out there. I still have a bunch left, all paid for from the profits from recent and past sales. I did pretty good overall with Eternals spec. Made thousands. Can’t retire yet but still, not complaining… and with the choices about I do think UF#4 is and will be a big winner for a long time!

Posted my response at the same time as enabler - but you are also right, it depends on your spec strategy and the spec gods. I still dont have a great handle on both; learning …

As an investor, I have taken the decision to cut my losses and free up the funds for the next Disney+ announcement. Sold off two copies of Eternals #3 and bought Fantastic Four #94 slabbed once the Agatha Harkness show was more of less confirmed. Have since sold off the FF #94 slab as well after the price jump.

Not trying to pry but do you make a good profit with the monthly strategy ? I sell a few books to make enough to buy the books I want - I think I break even, but worry about overextending myself.
