He says, “Now I’ll take my new form, Child”. Then, we see him in the all black shadow form as “…The Darkest Knight.” only on one page. He is in that same form on the cover of Death Metal Rise of the New God and Death Metal #4. I think he’s staying in the Darkest Knight form which is the shadowy black form. I think that was just a cameo in DM2.
So if that’s his true form based on future cover art, and he says his name, wouldn’t that make it a full appearance?
I don’t know if him saying his name makes the difference between a cameo or full.
One panel typically a cameo
I bought em all.
DK: Metal 2 3rd print

DK DM 2 (Mattina)

and on and on. Market will sort itself out.
Hey, you hear that? You can’t hear it?.. I can hear it… it’s the sad fiddle playing.
What do these people expect? Same thing happened with Punchline. The problem is, most set their expectations too high on a book based on spec or assumptions.
So, did Snyder lie about Robin King showing up in DM2? No, cuase if that ends up being the one as Robin King in DM3, then it’s still an appearance. Might not be the one the market goes for in demand but an appearance is still an appearance.
So Legends shows up before DM3… and they get a small back origin story… The problem with the cry babies is they need to realize that the creators don’t give two flying cents about the minuscule details of what’s first, full, cameo, brief, shadow or whatever appearance… And the market works in mysterious ways. I think one problem is, most will lean their argument based on what book they ordered more of instead of just breaking down the actual facts and evidence… which then again, play no role in “what people demand”…
You win some, you lose some. If you spec’d hard on a book not having all the info, that’s just how it plays out in life. Nothing is guaranteed. Let them cry I say… there are more important things to worry and cry over in life than if you bought heavy into a comic thinking you were gonna bank off of it…
Hey Folks On the homepage of this website down below their is a spot that says Sales, mines the first link that says Stameco Ebay Comic Sales, All auctions are ending This Sunday just as a heads up some raw some slabbed let me know if you have any questions. Im posting the heads up here because if you like Batman who laughs I got a Capullo and Snyder CGC 9.8 Signed of a rare DC 27 combo pack. Cheers.
Same I grabbed the run initially and after the 1st couple issues I said let’s double down and no matter what I have a 1 for the PC and 1 to get rid of to pay for the other books.
@agentpoyo @Alana so based on poyos new article are you guys going heavy on Death Metal 2 cover a and variants?
Was confused by this
FYI, I added this edit to the article after I got a mind check refresher from Comp82… now this all makes sense and I think is the best theory…
After talking with Comp82 (thanks for the refresher mind check) on the forums, seems that what we could be seeing now is in Death Metal #2 where BWL asks Robin to tell him his story, this could be Bruce that tells him what he’s done (the story from Legends that we just spoiled), so that’s why he now asks if he would be his Robin King.
So if that’s how it plays out going into Death Metal #3, then yes, Death Metal #2 is definitely a first appearance of Robin King since he refers to himself as such after killing Alfred, sitting in his study in the origin story, making that particular Robin in Death Metal the same character. So yes, he’s not in his Robin King attire but he likely is in fact Robin King and the same one from Legends.
I’m not going heavy, but I would probably advise others to pick up a copy if they haven’t done so already. Going to have to see how Death Metal #3 plays out but I think it totally makes sense that the story goes:
Death Metal #2: BWL asks the Robin to tell him his story. He whispers to BWL his back story.
Legends: We see his story told from Alfred’s view point and then he proclaims he’s the Robin King while sitting in the chair at the end.
Death Metal #2: BWL hears his story, so he asks him to be his “Robin King”.
Death Metal #3: Yet to be released but if the story is going like presented so far, Robin King pulls out his Robin King attire to stand as BWL ally as the Robin King, perhaps commanding the other Robins that are around and being BWL’s right hand man/boy/robin, whatever…
So DM#2 is still a appearance, but I’d say it’s a Cameo. Legends is First Full and Death Metal will be his next appearance more than likely…
I think the winner will ultimately be Legends, then DM#2… then whatever follows…
So Are we saying than death metal 2 is a Caemo and thats why we should not buy it because u think the Full will be better than the cameo?
Wow great to see all this crazy spec going on. I’ll be picking up afew DM #2. On the A Cover behind the car are two figures that look familiar just through it would be cool to show.
Here’s my stance on ratio covers. I only buy for cover price or dirt cheap. My primary local shop sells all books at cover, regardless of ratio, etc. So if they don’t throw it in a subscribers folder and it makes it to the shelf, I might grab it if available.
I would rather miss out on a hot ratio than pay a premium for a book that ends up becoming worthless.
For example: Secret War #1 Party Sketch Variant 1 per store, Midtown still trying to sell this one for $286. I picked this one up for cover price on day of release.
The only sold listing was for a CBCS 9.6 for a whopping $7.50.
Well im tracking it and Cover A is going for Cover price and 1:100 is going for $35 so the book aint moving Even if issue 2 is the Cameo the book aint Moving! @Alana @agentpoyo If you look at Legends its moving even Cover A , but issue 2 is dead in the water on ebay
I didn’t say don’t buy, I just said I’m not going heavy on it. It’ll be interesting to see how the market responds but I think Legends will be the ultimate winner, since it shows him in his outfit that will likely show up in DM3 or later…
But DM2 in my mind is still important, not only since it’s likely a cameo appearance but it’s also a cameo of Darkest Knight, which I actually find more interesting.
Yes, the evil Bruce Wayne is fun read but it’s just a twist on the same ol Bruce Wayne story we all know already. Instead of the mugger killing his parents, Bruce is a bad apple and he’s responsible.
Some like apples, others like oranges… I’m going with watermelon this round. I find the Darkest Knight origin more appealing for some reason…
Cause the market works in mysterious ways. But I say it’s still a good pickup… for the long haul.
