When I first started collecting in the mid 80’s wolverine was really hitting his stride. I Was told by dealers that 181 was his first. Then I was told he appeared in Hulk 180 as well and I was like, if he is in 180 how can 181 be his first? It’s been that way for a long time now. the market will be what it is. For me 180 will always be Wolverines first and 181 his most popular/collectible.
Unlike Poyo, Anthony does not speak in the third person.
It’s really us trying to be as descriptive as possible. Especially when it concerns a first appearance. If not for the monthly nature of comics it’d be much easier to describe. You wouldn’t have the multiple brief/cameo appearances.
Yeah. The time when it’s a “cameo” for the first 2-3 appearances starts to really get annoying when they’re all described as “cameo appearance”… just say first, second, third… then I know exactly which appearance it is.
Ah yes. The Bounty Hunters #28 Ken Lashley cover where zero characters from inferno squad show up on the cover or in the comic is for sure the right pick.
I find the whole cameo/first appearance debate ridiculous.
If your sole purpose is to flip a book then you should let the market decide which book is more desirable and roll with it. What you think doesn’t matter.
If it’s for your personal collection then what anyone says doesn’t matter. I would never let anyone sway my opinion over a books desirability.
Hulk 181 has an iconic cover with wolverine on it and also the first fight between him and hulk. There should no surprise why it’s the more desired book dictated by the market. Now if you truly feel hulk 180 is the true first appearance and want it for your own collection then you should be thrilled that it’s much more easily attainable. Why does it matter what other people think?
Quick spoilers for tomorrow here. Looks like Soule is pulling his old tricks from Rise of Kylo Ren when he dropped an unnamed Avar Kriss cameo:
A piece of art is not a character appearance in my book.
What about a mummified dead body? I believe that is that is what wookiepedia considers Freedon Nadd’s first appearance in Tales of the Jedi #2.
Always found that weird, but it’s better than a painting, I guess.
He did the same with the Second Sister, too. Gotta watch him close.
At this point, I’ll just keep all these Star Wars books on my pull lists and take a look at them 5 years from now before I unload any. Hard for me to keep up at this point.
I’m doing the same thing. Half my pull list is every Star Wars title.
still waiting for the next miles
A new Mando spot dropped recently. Anybody know who this is supposed to be? Tried to capture the brief moment they were somewhat in the light, but wasn’t successful. It’s not Mando in his armor. Someone without a mask.
Moff Gideon?
Clearly it is Aphra, the Miles of the GFFA. This person is hunting in the dark for some sort of lost artifact.
Ignoring the thick sarcasm, I don’t believe it’s a female, but I can’t really make out any defining features except there is no mask.
Was meant to be jokingly sarcastic, apololgies of offensive or insulting.
It could be the bounty hunter Gekko. Due to the gold in the middle of the head?
That would be my guess…
Haha. No offense taken.
