I don’t think I’ve ever sat through an entire “show”. I just dip in and out when bored.
Totally agree. I sat through that show yesterday trying to get the Obi Wan variants and came away empty handed. As a brand new user to What Not, I had no idea why it wouldn’t let me buy the books. I would click on the confirm button and nothing would happen. It was later pointed out that there were multiple users all trying to buy that individual book and I should try one further down on the list. By that time, they were all gone.
Really frustrating and I won’t be doing it again.
I was only able to pick up the virgin Kirkham obi, really wanted the trade dress instead.
I told you guys the CBSI guy runs it…
So of course there’s gonna be market manipulation and deceitfulness involved.
selling a brand new exclusive like that is just a way to create artificial fomo, so they can dump the copies they held back on ebay at higher prices. i hope 2nd print has her on cover so this garbage crash and burns
Why do you think a second print with her on it would crash this exclusive? It would be a first print with her on cover (and much lower print run even at the minimum of 3k trade and 1k virgin) vs a second printing with her on the cover? First print will always be worth more no?
Depends. Lately 2nd prints have been getting a lot of love. THR 7 is a great example. Also some people will want her first cover but will be perfectly happy paying $4 for a 2nd print instead of $28+ For an exclusive thus diluting the market.
Some people don’t even consider exclusives in the “first cover” determination.
Now what would really tank this issue would be if Gehren decapitates that Zabrak woman.
Who knows what this characters holds, but even with that first cover, if the character ends up being the end all/be all of Star Wars spec/importance going forward, putting your $$$ in to as many copies of any #1 issue versus an exclusive the vast majority of comic folk likely don’t even know about is still a better play (in my opinion). I think the whole exclusive game is over rated (unless you are just really a huge fan of the artist/art, etc).
I was all about getting the Gist stuff, but it’s because I’ve always followed him and love his stuff. I’ll pay more than I would typically for those exclusives because of it.
I grabbed one Kirkham trade of Obi-Wan 1 for the PC. Whether or not it heats up doesn’t really concern me. I’m just happy to have it next to the other variants in the box.
But yeah, I don’t think people should be taking out loans to spec on that particular cover.
Unless the Zabrak is the next Miles, I don’t see people giving a crap as time goes on. Nice cover, but not worth overpaying for it.
On a related note, how do I unfollow that guy on Whatnot? I’m not wasting my time with that ever again. I can’t find anywhere to click to get off his followers’ list.
If the character isn’t hyped the 2nd print may go under the radar…maybe a lower print run than the exclusive.
Always go for 1st cover 2nd print at cover price over an over priced pumped exclusive.
It’s all about demand though. Exclusives sometimes price themselves out of demand.
At least they gave credit to DW.
That’s just…low.
will be pumped on their lists for weeks
A low level character. Filter out the pumping and ask yourself, will people be paying big for the first appearance of a C level character? This isn’t exactly Dr. Aphra, and is sure as hell isn’t Miles. Whoop dee do.
What the hell, a trade and virgin Kirkham set just went for $321 at auction on whatnot.
Whatnot sales are sketchy as hell.
