It could be bullshit sales, though.
Get a grip. My file store ordered big because two of us did 1,000 copies apiece. That is how I know that my portion is less than half of their order.
Here are the number cases shipped by Fry communications to Diamond for cover A from one of my boxes. As you can clearly see on the label, there are 180 copies per case x 198 cases = 35,640 copies shipped directly from the printer to Diamond for distribution. If all three covers were ordered in the same amount, which is unlikely, then you have 106,920 of the print to order covers, with jives with the initial report of orders topping 100K in the first article. Then, when they added the 2nd print variant as part of the order in the second Bleeding Cool article it hits 200K. That makes sense since stores that missed on the 1st print would have ordered the 2nd print which was announced on December 16th or 17th and due on the 21st. I would not be surprised if that order hit 100K as well.
If anyone thinks that a new SW #1 that introduces a new era with a bunch of new characters has a high print run at 100K over three covers, then they are missing the boat on a great spec opportunity just like the people that argued Strange Academy 1 had a high print run at 75Kish over 5 covers.
If it were up to speculators every comic would have a tiny print run of 2k
Part of the 200k would be advance reorders, correct? I guess at most a 10k overprint. 90k + the overprint for the 2nd print seems like a lot.
Bruh
Sounds great. I could read previews and order what I want, then maximize some profits.
They sold out of it a while back before the cover reveal.
Still Pre-FOC. I imagine this is when all the garage retailers and lcs speculators with diamond accounts increase their order #s to get more ratios.
Must be nice.
Oh well guess Iâll order now then before the cover spreads crazy. The image just dropped
I highly doubt the 2nd print is going to top 100k. When has a 2nd print done that for any hot marvel book? Or any hot book?
Maybe 30kâŠ40k at best would be my guess.
Why buy from a buying club if you do not get it at cover price? The selling at inflated prices goes against the idea of doing a buying club. Plus, now I am pushing product at inflated prices to readers. Just a bad idea
I totally get what youâre suggesting and am second guessing my diamond application now haha! spec with the lcs puts them in the highest tier discount, saves them money, you get a discount without the minimum order requirement. They still make money off you and you in turn are helping them learn what is probably going to be a big seller (majority of shop owners are really out of touch with what is going to be hot) Everyone wins. If someone can point out a negative with this scenario iâd like to hear.
Oh ok, we are talking about doing this two different ways. I am speaking of having a diamond account so my friends could just order what they want at cost. As long as they paid for shipping I donât care but then as I think you mentioned you would have to spend half your time shipping out orders for no profit. That would work good with a small group of friends of 4 or 5 but not work so good with 50 CHU members lol
TOSS had 100 of these in stock. I bought one for $20 so Iâll have the young Yoda cover set.
Whatâs Toss? And I bought a couple copies $20
I remember about 20 years ago thinking Spiderman #300 was so over printed it would never become a big time key book. I was wrong thinking thatâŠdidnât stop me from buying four of them but I was wrong nonetheless.
Yes he does.
Bro, if youâre gonna come in swinging, you better have more logic than thatâŠ
Diamond has FOUR distribution centers. FâŠOâŠUâŠR.
That label you are showing is a shipping label. 198 cases going to OLIVE BRANCH.
I got my shipments from PLATTSBURGH.
So, MANY MANY MANY more shipments and case packs of High Republic #1 than you suggestâŠ
David sends me free stuff⊠so he gets a pass.
