Star Wars: The High Republic

All of those jedi on one cover is kinda sweet; I like it the most.

I have 3 on order from TFAW, post-FOC. But like all hot books that are not ordered on TFAW pre-FOC, I expect to receive only 1 copy.

:sob:

tbh though, I wasn’t a fan of the art on the cover

I totally agree. The second print was on FOC for just 3 days a week before Christmas.

I was watching a couple of different live sales when High Republic came out. I kept hearing folks asking for the 2nd print since they missed the 1st, or the shop owners/sellers saying "Oh, we’re sorry you missed the first print, we will put you down for the 2nd print when it gets announced/released etc
but none of them seemed to be aware of the fact the FOC for it had already come and gone?

Westfield is selling star wars high republic adventures #1 for 99 cents. Great deal if they don’t cancel your order.

Those clowns cancel any orders I’ve placed on remotely popular books. They’ve been added to my “To hell with them” list. Waste of my damn time.

I ordered some. Thanks Trent31.
Also ordered some High Republic #2 copies when Westfield had them for .99 also.

It’s post FOC too
Seems too good to be true. I’m still wondering how they manage to make any money actually selling new releases for 99 cents

I placed an order for 150 @.99/ on Sunday. Surprised they still are listing them for .99/
I am 50/50 with these .99/ preorders. If I get them great ,if not, oh well.

Think it’s a loss leader to clear out books they bought in order to sell ratio variants?

Order 100 copies and sell at 99 cents each. So let’s say that means they’re now (100).

They get 10 of the 1:10 for their order, though. They’re selling those for $21 each. So after ordering those, they’re (120). Sell those for $21 each, and now they’re +90 for every 100 copies sold at 99 cents each.

So it’s possible doing it that way, but it’s a LOT of work and ultimately a loss if you factor in labor and the time it takes to pack 110 comics.

Maybe
Seems risky unless they’re doing it with hot books and have already pre-sold them on eBay to make up the cost to pay for them all perhaps.

Exactly
I can’t see when you account for everything involved how they’re making money. I guess if they somehow are making pennies in quantities that add up, good for them.

Seems like with the amount of cancellations though, they’re likely pissing off more than making happy

It would make more sense for something that had a 1:10, 1:25, 1:50, 1:100, 1:500, etc. to do it their way to just chase the incentives to sell. Doing it for something with ONLY 1:10 incentives does seem odd. But I’m sure they know what they’re doing, they see numbers and factors we don’t. It could be a way they use to keep their Diamond discount at a high enough tier, it could be something they do to make sure they don’t have to reduce hours for anyone in the warehouse if upcoming things look light in certain weeks, it could just be a way for them to attempt to bring in new customers by making hot titles cheaper than anyone else, etc. There are plenty of reasons where even if it’s barely making money or just breaking even it could still make sense.

Star Wars High Republic #1 (3rd Printing) now available at TFAW.

With the amount of people saying the cover is meh, I’m buying 1000s of these now, everyone will want it after they don’t buy it. I’m gonna pump and dump this so much, you’ll wish you got your copy and I’ll control the market by buying them all

They dont charge until items are in-stock and ready to ship. I have had them fill some of the orders (on very hot items) and have had them cancel too. If I was being charged upfront and they were constantly cancelled I would stop placing these types of orders with them. But for me it is worth rolling the dice.

I suppose
I still wouldn’t myself. I don’t have time to play games. Either post what you know you can fulfill or show it out of stock
That just seems like a waste of time on their end to “cancel” orders
talk about the most inefficient method of running a business.
