Seems like prices have dipped sold a few regular covers for $25 each and a few Hans variants for $40. Guessing the undercutters are a factor.

As expected
its like with every new hot book prices start high form a few days/week or two then they settle.

Yeah I sold 3 Hans, 2 Anindito and 3 cover A’s. Still have a couple more left, but am just going to hold the rest long term.

Also kept the 1:10 and 1:25’s I ended up with.

That’s what I did more or less. Sold a couple copies of each cover to cover my costs, kept most and the ratios for long term.

What is going on with Star Wars High Republic 2 Witter variant? It has absolutely exploded on eBay. I will say I like the cover.

It has to just be FOMO, right? Or at least sellers try to cause and capitalize on FOMO.

Just wanted to say I received this bundle in the mail a few days ago and the book looks great. Really cool addition to my library.

Thanks for posting!

Great cover, #2 issues always see dips in orders
and yes, FOMO for those who want it and didn’t secure copies
I hate to say this but FOMO is demand
it might be sort of based on false demand but nevertheless, when more people want, driving more demand
 value goes up.

Wow just checked, there’s literally only one listing for cgc 9.8 at 350.

One has already sold for $350 as well.

I think Sad Lemons variant is stupid, and not worth the money.
All store variants are a bane on the hobby. Imo, store variants will be the least sought after, regardless of the artificial scarcity created, in the long run. They are gimmicks, and will be seen as such by future collectors.

The whole drive to this book, ATM, is purely fomo speculation. If the market doesn’t take to the characters, or the story, then the long term demand won’t meet today’s supply. Especially with lots of speculators sitting on hundreds/thousands of copies respectively. The current supply/demand for this book/title has not shown any characteristics of a normal market. It will correct itself accordingly over time, for better or worse.

And yet they account for a decent amount of the money many stores make as well as some being “hot flips” on ebay.

We all have to remember though, collectors collect. Some collect covers based on artist, some based on title, some just for how it looks. And let us not fool ourselfs, flippers and speculators are far outnumbered by these people.

As has been said many times here. Buy what u like, collect what you love.

One would think so. But even the US stock market has thrown fundamentals out the window the past year. I’m not sure if we have a ‘normal’ market for, well, anything any more.

Some stores have 0% of there revenue from store variants, and do just fine. Open order books can also be ‘hot flips’.
Store variants are a gimmick, and if a shop solely relies on selling these gimmicks at an inflated price, then I don’t think that shop has integrity for the hobby, or integrity for their business. M2c. I digress.

Wholly agreed on that sentiment. But, it will (should) correct itself in due time. Always has.
While we, as speculators, should absolutely be capitalizing on today’s red hot market, we must also factor in certain variables when deciding what to invest in now, for the longer term.
