All suspect imo. Honestly though, I dont think I’ve seen a book get manipulated this hard in a long time. The Dorc shenanigans I’ve seen in Facebook groups is astounding. From people openly admitting to pumping it, to people posting shilled auctions that were never completed. The manipulation is strong with this one.
I’ll have to keep an eye on these sellers.
Whether these sales are legit or not, the 2nd print will very likely be selling over cover price.
I’m sure it will. At least people shouldn’t question why this hobby never grows. Poor souls being influenced.
Although I’m sure it’s happening on some level, I refuse to get overly excited about it without hard evidence of the wolf’s existence. For all we know, they are trying to take credit for what either organically occurred or were a non-factor.
They’re not as special as they think they are, in other words.
Agreed, lots of people trying to take credit for to make themselves look like they have some sort of influence. If someone or some group is actually buying 2nd prints at $30 to pump the price then more power to them because that seems like recipe for losing money, especially when it actually drops. I find this fascinating, can’t wait to see how this plays out in a couple of months.
It will be interesting to see if KCC calls out the 2nd Print, like the first. Especially given ComicTom has a 2nd print exclusive. It will be very telling one way or the other.
Well you obviously don’t follow all my posts. I have never claimed some widespread collusion. What I have claimed are very specific instances that to any unbiased person would appear like manipulation. Whether you buy my opinion is irrelevant and far from any concern of mine.
As I have explained countless times, there doesnt have to be a widespread manipulation. All it takes is a small fire to insight the unwitting masses to fomo frenzy. The only reason this book is getting any attention is because of the almost unbelievable high prices it is going for.
An example of how this process might turn out is as follows: someone somewhere posts a questionable sale from eBay. The ones who follow closely see this and then spread this information far and wide. Fomo sets in, drastically increasing demand and prices. Everyone begins to talk about the book and its crazy prices. All this can occur with little to no coordination.
I respect your opinion, but if you keep attempting to suppress mine I will block you. Take care.
I don’t see claiming to have witness to evidence of other blatantly admitting to manipulating the market, but not willing to provide that evidence as being courageous.
Is there a reason not to call more attention to them
If they’re being so crass?
Stand by
(Crap…accidentally overwrote my previous post).
If people are bragging about trying to do this, are they being held accountable? I don’t visit these types of conversations. I’d hope that people are not congratulating them, but holding them accountable for trying to mess with things.
The top picture is a shilled auction from the 14th. This was posted in a Facebook group as a pump post garnering nearly 60 likes and countless comments with virtually no pushback. How do I know this was shilled?
Latest sale as of today in the below photo.
Now was the seller involved? I have no idea, and I probably want ever know.
You KNOW that was shill? Because it sold for a lot? Isn’t there an A cover under that blank? And didn’t A covers sell for into the low $100s?
The buyer’s percentage of prior bids with this seller is listed at 0% on eBay. So, you think the buyer and seller were in on this, despite the two apparently having very little interaction prior to? Two long running accounts with tons of activity.
Now, you might be right. To your point, who knows. But, this feels more like a hunch than evidence.
This one is a little more benign. He uses a lot sensational wording, claiming it’s the best book in a decade in comments etc. Then later admits he is pumping the book, but claims it’s because he wants more people to read it. Is that true? Who really knows, but my guess is no.
Bye. Please refrain from contacting me any more. As any further contact will be considered harassing communication and punishable under my state law. Thanks
“Evidence”
Contacting? I don’t recall contacting you.
I do intend to continue to converse with my fellow peeps here at CHU. They are rad.
Only commenting on what you posted here and not the rest of what you have laid out, but pumping doesn’t imply a shill or market manipulation. It’s a random Facebook user announcing that they are going to promote the book as much as they can so that their copies sell for more. To me that just sounds like advertising…huckster advertising, but advertising nonetheless.
