The Mandalorian season 3 (The Book of Bo-Katan)

JACK BLACK !!!

CHRISTOPHER LLOYD !!!

:grinning: :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

Battle Droids, never thought I would see those again…

This episode was weird. Like half the season has been. The whole story and wrap up with Christopher Lloyd was tacky and a bit cringey.

One or two of these celebrity cameos would be fine on their own, but it’s starting to feel like a weekly SNL hosting gig. Like, I’m happy for them that they got to do a Star Wars during their career, but was it the right move for the audience? For the show? Were they the best choices for their roles?

Bill Burr, Carl Weathers, Werner Herzog, Jason Sudeikis, Ahmed Best, Jack Black, Lizzo, Christopher Lloyd,… We’re going down a path where that weird Snoop Dogg music video actually being a part of this season doesn’t seem too far out there. I was pretty floored Jack Black didn’t say “riddddi, dooo doo deee deee” and do a jump kick in this episode.

Why did we have to go through that whole side-quest for Bo-Katan to meet up with another band of Mandalorians? Seriously, more than half of this season is gristle that can be thrown away. There is absolutely no chance of a satisfying ending with two episodes left.

I mean, what conflict can they realistically wrap up in that amount of time? What conflict even exists? Yeah, Moff Gideon is “out there” somewhere, but we haven’t seen him and his storyline isn’t salient to this season at all so far. I wouldn’t put it past them to shoe-horn his appearance into the last two episodes though.

It’s really frustrating that they had to do all this service to other storylines like Pershing on Coruscant and the vegetarian Pizza the Hutt in this season, but also can’t keep the substance tight enough to avoid this week’s Scooby Doo side quest.

I get it what Favreau is “trying” to do this season, sprinkle pieces of the larger story throughout the episodes, but filling in a story for the rest of the running time in the episodes has been mediocre, and downright lazy AF.

Come on, Lizzo…for real ???

What da hell is this, the make-a-wish foundation…?

Im out.

I’ve been on the fence with beginning to watch this 3rd season - just watching how favorable the reviews are before I dedicate many hours.

Lizzo appearing - I know what side of the fence i’m on now

I have no real issue with Lizzo. I don’t go out of my way to listen to her. I think she can be proud of herself but also maybe at least try to be healthy. Same stance I took with Ralphie May. He died of cardiac arrest after battling stubborn pneumonia? No shit? Who would have thought those problems would arise for him at ag 45? (Sarcasm).

But again, I have no real issue with her. My daughter likes her one single.

But my issue is why her? Was it really that they had a role in mind, created a profile of that character, did a casting call, sat through hours of auditions, and surprise surprise, LIzzo happened to be the best fit? No. This is the same Friday-night-hang-out, “hey wouldn’t it be cool if you and I were in a Star Wars? Let’s call Favreau,” set up. Like, cool. I’m glad Filoni, Favreau, and Chow get to sit across the bar from Zeb. But also, they got to be Trapper Wolf and Paz Viszla so I think their Lucasfilm-sanctioned canon cosplay adventure has pretty much played out right? To be clear, I did not enjoy Filoni as Trapper Wolf. I thought that was the worst. Yes, I too would cast myself in a Star Wars if I were directing it and I would do a bad job. Because, I’m not an actor.
Director cameos were cute when Hitchcock was doing them, but now they kind of feel like rubbing our noses in how fortunate they are they get to do this stuff.

So, now I’m just left feeling like there is some sort of poker game that we’re all not invited to where the attendees get an offer to be in a Star Wars. Maybe Anderson Cooper will be the next person invited to the Favreau poker game. Maybe it will be Steve Aoki or Joe Quesada. Who the f*ck knows. But I don’t think they are trying out for these roles and I don’t think these roles are being filled with an eye for the best actor to play them.

Contrast that with Andor. Just take a look at the acting going on over on Andor. No, the security forces that stormed Andor’s planet were not cast as the trio from Workaholics. They were cast from people capable of playing the roles.

I didn’t hate the episode, but I get your point. It had the feel of a Clone Wars or Rebels episode, but F&F can’t afford to do that with the limited episodes live-action allows. Honestly, the last scene of this episode could have taken place at the end of the episode they were on Mandalore.

Besides Zeb, and Bo-Katan romancing the Armorer, it’s been all filler and no killer between those episodes.

So Doc Brown and Nacho Libre are Star Wars cannon now.

I prefer Jim Ignatowski, but yeah.

Uncle Fester.

Seriously can’t stand seeing Jack Black on the show. I like him but not in this role.

This latest episode (Guns for Hire) felt like an episode of TNG.

I was thinking the same thing. Felt like an episode of Star Trek with the detective work and forensics.

I know they are different models of droids…but this feels too close to Triple Zero and BeeTee to be coincidental.

Likely just an homage/Easter egg for die-hard fans.

When they first showed them for a split second I was like, “here we go”…but it didn’t take longer than that to realize they were just cheap Triple Zero and Bee Tee knock offs… Middle rim junk. I do have a feeling this may have been done on purpose from the production staff. Just a hunch. Anyway, I want to see those naughty, slightly insane droids soon!

I felt like I just got done watching an episode of She Hulk. WTF was that?!

I fell asleep watching the latest episode. This season is boring me to tears.

I do love that scene with Grogu jumping into the arms of the women after Mando said that it’s not a good idea for her to hold him. Super cute.

I think they were just having a little fun. Given how the comics, movies and cartoons are careful not to re-tell any cannon stories I’m not even sure how they would introduce Aphra at this point in live action.

It’s going to a while…a long while…

Apparently Grogu’s weakness is food. This could lead him to the dark side if he does not train to control his feelings of want and desire…

I thought there was a good possibility that Gideon is a mandalorian and was “rescued” by rook cast or other mandos sympathetic to the imperials…but after this last episode I’m back to it being a set-up to frame the Mandos in the eyes of the flailing new republic.

At least they have me guessing what will happen next…

The transition of the Dark Sabre was a bit weak…a technicality at best…”but I suppose we now know why Din has not been making any effort to train with it.

That rumor made its away around the sketchy “news” sites last season. They trying to give it another go to see if it sticks this year?
