The Mandalorian season 3 (The Book of Bo-Katan)

Yes. Since IG88 appears in the original trilogy and the episodes happen well after, there should already be an IG88……. Unless…. It is well known that IG12 was destroyed in an unfortunate accident allowing the mantle to be used.

I just don’t know why they didn’t still call him IG11. Or IG-11B. Or IG-N1 (Intergalactic Nurse Droid).

But it’s (Good) Greef Karga naming him, so he maybe doesn’t know the proper droid number/naming sustenance.

Looks like IG-88 (Or IG-88B) was the first built? You’d think 11 would come before 88.

Created shortly after the Clone Wars as the firstof the [IG-series] (IG-series | Wookieepedia | Fandom) assassin droid models created in secret by Holowan Laboratories, IG-88B, more commonly known as simply IG-88, and also known as a Phlutdroid, realized his skill and desire to kill the moment he was first activated and turned on his creators, killing everyone in the lab. From that moment on, he became one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy, in part due to the lingering fear of droids from the Clone Wars, particularly those capable of battle and assassination, gaining notoriety comparable only to that of Boba Fett, his chief rival.] (IG-88B | Wookieepedia | Fandom)

Further research indicates there were 4 IG-88’s (A, B, C and D) which escaped…so it seems like IG numbering for assassin droids is the Wild West in terms of rules…

It also makes IG-88’s comic appearances super fun (sarcasm), to unwind. Some of those appearances were “D”, “A”, etc.

IG-88B shows up in the Marvel comics ESB adaptations. Then in Star Wars 50, IG-88C and IG-88D show up. Then, in Star Wars 85, IG-88A shows up. Then, we assume that the IG-88 in Shadows of the Empire is IG-88B. So, the first original story to feature IG-88B is actually Shadows of the Empire, not Star Wars 50 or 85. Not a difference that will probably ever amount to anything, but still that distinction exists in old Legends canon.

This seems to be the norm here… everyone starts complaining and then boom… it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

I always wait until the end to see how it all pans out when it comes to shows…

Taking bets on who kicks the bucket next week:

  • Bo-Katan
  • Din Djarin
  • Grogu
  • Axe Woves
  • Greef Karga
  • Moff Gideon
  • R5-D4
  • Koska Reeves
  • Captain Teva

Gideon is going to get eaten by the Mythosaur.

It would be awesome if Bo-Katan’s response to last episode was to go down to the mines and wake up the Mythosaur. Take that, jerk!

Gideon clearly is poo pooing Thrawn…and we know this show is going to transition/lead into Ahsoka…so I think Thrawn shows up takes over the Shadow Counsel and removes Gideon as payback for his “loyalty.”

It seems like the two won’t be able to exist…unless the drama between them is to be part of the entertainment. But the Empire doesn’t do drama…it squashes it.

I think that is what’s going to happen. Use the Mythosaur to rid the planet of the imperials. That thing will eat tie interceptors like they’re bacon.

Just realized I forgot to put Armorer on the poll…

This is a good theory. The only issue is that Ahsoka has been “hearing whispers” about Thrawn’s return. Him dropping out of hyperspace above Mandalore with the Chimaera should probably cause more than whispers.

Maybe he sends that “Enoch” guy who just got cast.

I was hoping for the same thing but have a feeling maybe Thrawn will take care of him when he shows up.

Him mocking Thrawn isn’t going to age well…

Im honestly thinking that Bo Katan tames the Mythosaur, unites the clans, and then dies in a blaze of glory.

It rarely does…but having Gideon devoured by the Mythosaur would be more satisfying I think…especially for the Mythosaur.

So the title of the episode was “Spies” plural. Yet Kane was the only spy we know absolutely. that means someone is a spy in the Shadow Counsel (maybe for Thrawn), but more likely someone is a spy amongst the Mandalorians. Otherwise how were they trapped so easily?

I’m pretty much convinced at this point the Armorer is working for Gideon, or aligned with him. Let’s look at the facts.

  • She was discouraging of Djarin about the mines of Mandalore being accessible.
  • She’s been acting weird ever since Bo-Katan disclosed to her she saw the Mythosaur. She didn’t even acknowledge it fully, then later came back to her and spun the story that Bo-Katan will unite Mandalorians. Maybe Unite them so they can all be squashed at once by Death Watch. A Death Watch faction that maybe Moff Gideon is now leader of (Did you notice the horns on his helmet?)
  • She came down and personally took part in the exploration of Mandalore, conveniently left to take wounded back to the armada of ships in orbit before the rest were surrounded.
  • And on that note, why didn’t Gideon send a fleet of interceptors into orbit to battle them in space? He seems very confident that he just needs to take care of business on the surface.
  • And what if the horns on the Armorer’s helmet, keep coming back to that subtlety. Maybe she is Rook Cast after all under that helmet she so conveniently chooses not to remove because “it’s the way.”

Hmmm…yeah. Thinking that’s the big heart break near episode. Betrayal by the Armorer.

Oh, and this is setting up a big throw down…maybe multiple ones.

Bo-Katan vs. Gideon, Djarin Vs. The Armorer.

But my money is on Djarin vs. Gideon and the Armorer vs. Bo-Katan!!
