There are two Dylans.
1610 is Codex.
616 is Dylan Brock.
I think most people would’ve preferred Codex to be a brand new 1610 character (like Miles) and not a new version of an already established 616 character.
As brand new 1610 characters (like Miles) tend to do better spec wise then those with 616 counterparts (Maker, pic any of the others from the years of Ultimate comics).

In all seriousness, I was bummed when Codex was just that universe’s Dylan. It would have been way more special if he was a new character. I think it killed the potential.
Let’s just hope Codex disappoints Knull, Knull squashes him and then when Dylan 616 returns to his universe Earth, he uses his power for good… Then we can all just wish we held onto our Venom #7 and #9’s

If and when codex becomes more developed as a character, I don’t think people will be down on him anymore. Plus his look is cool and they wouldn’t just drop a moneymaker like codex.

Good comparisons, but the reverse here is true since Dylan hasn’t developed a persona yet except in this new reality. So his present persona is just plain old Dylan which will probably eventually change.
I still feel Codex is gonna be pretty big in the future, Cates will be blind to waste an opportunity like that on a throwaway character. Not sure why people think he’s gonna die at the end of the arc either just because Black Winter did. Cates won’t be that predictable (hopefully for him).

His look is Knull. Even the same colors.
Codex has no where near the heat that Black Winter had or Cosmic Ghost Rider had and Cates killed both in 3-4 issues. He has a tendency to do that.
Or that’s the curveball… make people love the new villain and then just kill’em, since we got a Dylan with Codex powers on Earth 616
Already done with Black Winter just recently in Thor. Unless Cates wants the title of Predictable New Villain Killer Cates.

No doubt, it’s Marvel. Just the perception of death, since you can’t die if you never actually lived.
