The marvel ones are random. Usually whatever is behind the main book and it tends to be later printings or the lenticular books. DC im pretty sure all the books are the same. Like every batman and outsiders pack has that Legion of super heroes book with gold lantern

I highly doubt you will find a strange academy #1 or HR #1 in the middle of one of those packsā¦itās either exposed as the top comic in the bundle or itās not in the bundle.

You wonāt find one in the middle. Middle books are just fillers and not walmart exclusive. Now a few years from now will you find a 2nd print strange academy? Iād guess so
People have found good books in the middle of the Marvel packs, but they are pretty rare. I think a few 1:100 ratio incentives were found, but as noted, most tend to be 2nd printings, lenticulars, or random lower value books.
My two Star Wars High Republic packs had the following:
Star Wars Saga #1
Jean Grey #8 (lenticular)
X-Factor vol 4 #1
Captain America #695 (lenticular)
Seems like the 2020 Q4 packs had a lot of 2nd prints, but the 2021 Q1 packs had a bunch of lenticulars. These seem to come out quarterly, so Iād expect a new batch to show up early June? They are pretty good about putting a few more in demand exclusive titles for the front book. Strange Academy, Venom, Spiderverse, Star Wars HR.
Any guesses on the next batch? Maybe a Non-Stop Spidey? Alien? Darth Vader?
I got better middle comics in past packs than current packs, found a Yondu 1:25 in a pack as well as other ratios but that was not the last set.
Iād probably recommend opening them. I think the longer they stay shrink wrapped, the better chance you have of damage to the books. And, I donāt think any are going for a premium on the secondary market at the moment. The hot title each quarter sells for a bunch for about a week after release.
I wanted to make sure my two copies of SW HR were kept shiny, so I opened. Plus, I like to see what the inside books are.

Ok, well I have 17 of them, I guess Iāll open a few!
They arenāt completely random. I had 3 or 4 high republic 3 packs that I could tell by the spines they were all the same books within.
Same with Spiderverse 1 and Secret Academy 1ā¦
But generally within there is a variant book (not always incentive) and either a second print or just random surplus book (I have so many Star Wars 72sā¦)

I feel like the Captain Marvel is where I found my best middle book out of the bunch.
I think there may be new dc packs out. Guy behind the counter opened up a fresh box.

If you crack those open, let me know what you got in the FSWW pack. DC has always had the exact same books in their packs, but the two FSWW packs I found had very different books.
Makes you start to ponder those damn print runsā¦ if theyāre printing up a crap ton for Wally World to sell in multi-packsā¦

Every time I go into one of the Walmartās by me ā¦ the workers give a blank stare when I say I want to see the comics. Mine never carry any.
Dang, I want one of those Nightwings! At BatmanFanās recommendation, Iāve gotten 79 and 80, but I canāt find a 78.
