The worse part is 80% of the store variants for all 3 issues so far has just been keeve fighting various monsters… It’s like all the artists have seen were keeve.

even the newest ones are on a special buy x get x sale. Only way they can con people into buying their shit
LoL. I gotta admit the $10 covers are good and not too overpriced especially when it’s by 2 get 1 free. So these 6 books are $40 for 6 books. Better than most stores at $20 a pop.

Also, here’s a thought experiment: what does the virgin cover add beyond seeing the gradient behind the logo?
That’s why I grabbed the Tfaw price and ease of ordering.
I know it’s either a love/hate for most folks with Campbell.
I personally love his stuff. Fun and colorful.
I actually like the design of Punchline and hope she gets fleshed out in the future.

J Scott is one of the top businessmen in the business. I am incredibly impressed with the brand he created, his own covers through his own site, his exposure at cons and other physical places, the relatively small volume of work (changing heads on the same drawing; changing backgrounds, etc…) yet making the money he makes. It really is a clinic on how to do so little and make so much.
As an artist - I might have stuff from by accident, but that’s about it

J Scott is NOT a businessman. He has a fanbase who buys his art. Thats it. Everybody else sees through his crap and his cookie-cutter, copy/paste, rinse/repeat art.

I always think it’s funny that JSC gets crap for his characters all looking alike but so many other artists have a “style” that is very repetitive and do not get pooped on.

JSC is incredibly nice if you get a chance to talk to him. He usually takes time to hang out at his booth and will chat and sign a few books.
I used to buy a lot of his books but stopped when he started recycling covers with minor differences to increase prints.
Would still really like his Gamora and Lizard covers though!
Yup, I don’t seek out AH or Dodson ever anymore… but I do have to admit, at least the bodies seem to change a bit.
I could even go on to say Artgerm’s ladies all resemble one another now…

He did seem nice but I swear, he didn’t look up once while chatting with him. At NYCC a few years back he was doing signings and it was 1 per… the line was super short, so all we did was get a book signed, walk around… wait a few people now in front of us and get the next book signed cause he wasn’t even looking at me. I think in about 10 minutes I got like 6 books signed by him.

Nice! I caught him at NYCC and it was just me and some other dude and JSC went through the other guy’s art portfolio to talk about his art with him. I was impressed! I had JSC sign his Marvel Legacy cover.
Man… I really missed going to NYCC this year (even more than Phish @ the Garden!).
I’ve grown to learn never to count somebody out. J Scott’s formulaic layouts are a pass for me in most instances. When he breaks his own mold and thinks up some poses and ideas that relate well the the subject matter and characters, it sometimes produces gold.
In spite of all the fun poked around here, he can draw male characters really well and usually in pretty diverse and dynamic ways. Maybe he panders to his niche of online customers with all the female covers. I don’t know his motivations. Either way, I don’t like to categorically dismiss his work.
Same goes for any artist really. I was really starting to dislike the proportions and contorted bodies and faces of Larocca’s work for a while. But that Alien cover? Good stuff.
