We all hate store variants but

IG comic store

Mayhew High Republic 3 links:

I feel like some of the people who buy comics are maybe kind of bad at it:

yuuuuuuup

That was the main reason I had started my blog about toy soldiers. It is a niche market and people would be listing things on eBay at crazy prices. Some of these things were being sold by original makers at the normal price. I would direct the collector to the toy shows that they could find things at fair prices or use links to other sites. It that hobby there was no central place to go to find out information.

While researching whether ComixBookzExxxluzivez destroyed extra copies, I came across them hinting at a SIKTC exclusive coming up next.

P.S. according to the implications of this post, everybody who grabbed a High Republic variant was a “savvy investor”. I guess that makes everybody else a chump.

Yeesh. That reads like they are offended at having to adjust the process for the unwashed masses.

I think the savvy investor line is regarding people who picked up multiple sets of their first one, throwing a bit of shade at them. It’s how I took it when I read it at least.

Yes. Tone is difficult via social.

Well that and the wording is really poor.

Also. Where is the proof of what they did to the extra copies and didn’t they say they were doing Star Wars Exclusives only? I am confused.

Yeah, if the reader copies they sent were actual copies of their exclusive as a way of “destroying” them, I wanna see the video proof of them sitting around, ripping their exclusive cover off the remaining books to ship as reader copies.

Fee Fie Foe Fum… I smell some con artists selling books to chums…

Damn you ASM 300! Stop tempting me with homages. I buy them, then I inevitably sell them when the novelty wears off!

Can you copyright comic covers? Like if McFarlane had done that, he could be getting royalties for every cover. And then maybe the parody Pooh, Hardlee Thinn, etc books would have to have original covers instead of quick gimmicks

You can, but it’s exceedingly likely it was work for hire which assigns the copyright to Marvel and subsequently assigned to Disney.

One of the major exceptions to copyright infringement claims is “fair use.” Fair use has a number of different arms to it, but parody and satire are the two main one used in Thai type of instance. It’s not, for instance under the educational exception. Fair use is an affirmative defense, however, meaning you assert it in court. So, it doesn’t save you from the cost of defending a suit filed up until the point it’s dismissed in your favor for the defense.

For those not producing these homages for Marvel
books, best practice is to consensually license the derivative image.
