Whatnot App

Yeah, I work during the day, but by the time I get home around 5 cst, plenty of shows with 10-120 peeps poking around. I would love to catch one of your shows, but the day gives me the old stiff arm.

This guy was having a hard time on the app too.

Yeah, looks like a lot of Whatnot sellers are going to Popshop and back to eBay

Holy yikes man. Some people are scum. Crying because your not ripping people off enough (breaking packs of anything is ripping people off by abusing thier instant gratification and gambling addictions imo).

It’s growing some categories too fast with new sellers being lazy in regards to actually listing stuff for sale or selling junky mystery boxes of random lame stuff they assembled. I still find great things in various categories and shows but it takes some browsing.

I just can’t imagine that some of these sellers can continue to sustain their pace of selling fodder books for more than what they can be found in comic bins.
While it wasn’t huge, the raise in shipping prices also has to be acknowledged.

Seems like a gravy train that has to end.

I’ve suggested to whatnot to add features to even the playing field. Like search options that allow buyers to find specific titles on current and future shows which they could then bookmark for alerts. This would allow even smaller sellers to get viewers if they have good books to sell. It also adds incentive to all sellers to add book titles and descriptions as opposed to ‘lot 1’, ,lot 2’, etc.

I haven’t done a show on whatnot in months…

That’s so funny

I also find it funny that people will pay hundreds of dollars for unwitnessed autographs on a sticker. Panini is :poop:

I know nothing about the owners/leadership of Whatnot.
As some of you are sellers on there, do you have an active voice in providing constructive feedback?
I’d love to see another successful selling platform, but I’ve personally seen more of a de-evolution in the platform versus positive change.
There is a difference in my mind of that between “growth” & positive change.
It surely has become bigger, but I think it will fall under its own weight if some checks aren’t put into place.

We go live every Sunday @ 1:05pm ET. We are a small 2 man operation, selling our own comics and stuff we hunt throughout the week. In 3 months of selling on there we have just over 700 Followers, 1800 books sold, and average between $1800 - $3000 EVERY show (avg just under 2 hours). Get some good music going, make sure you describe and take a pic of EVERY auction (it takes 20 seconds tops). Talk up your books…people like to be educated on most stuff. Tell them why they need that particular book and know the current values of your items as well. Talk to your audience and ask them what they like and what they want you to bring to the next show etc. Whatnot has changed our lives, for real. Nowhere else can I sell 110 books in 2 hours sitting in my Underwear. If you bring what people are looking for (Star Wars and Miles lol), are somewhat entertaining…and can tell your audience what’s important about each book and why they should buy it…youll do just fine.

Thanks Gemcity. One thing I have to say is people complain a lot about music in the background. I do talk up and about the books I have on and why I have them on. I try to bring on good relevant books and deals too, a nice mix. Congrats on the success. I have had shows go well and shows flop, its a mix and is hard to compete with some of the bigger sellers.

I always do short shows as it is just better for me. I usually run an hour at most. I just don’t have the patience to ramble to everyone longer than that. Maybe if I had a co-host or something I’d run longer, lol. I will try to catch your shows, Rich!

eBay looking to tap into (or dominate) live selling :astonished:

Thats what auctions are…

Check out a whatnot sale if you want to understand more about this. @Anthony and @davidbitterbaum have posted about their shows here often.

eBay wants a piece of the pie…
