Yeah, the 2nd print for #2 is just a color variant but it is definitely a limited print run. #12 has so many firsts that it has great potential. Still amazed how much Hickman was able to squeeze into the one issue. It helps that Yu is an outstanding artist and was able to convey that story through his art.
I came across 4 2nd prints and hid them in another section so that I could grab em during a sale. Might have to pay full cover now if they havenāt been discovered yet.
@DanielPā¦ Dude, come on, man. That is not fair to the shop or other customers. Hiding books in a store is frowned upon. Iād suggest going back and either paying for them, or put them back. Come on, man.
I get what youāre saying, but I only do it when I fully intend on buying the books. I have less of a problem with it considering how much I spend there, and the books in this shop are all over the place anyway so itās not uncommon to find hot books under unrelated titles.
If you fully intend on buying them, @DanielP, then you should have bought them. You are essentially trying to scam your LCS by āhidingā their inventory until it goes on sale. If you arenāt buying the book, leave it where itās at. You really need to stop hiding books at your LCS, or at least stop posting about it. That isnt too far off from stealing, in my book. I read your posts, Daniel, and from those you come across as a genuine, thoughtful, nice person. This surprised me to read that you were hiding books at your LCS. Donāt do that. Itās not a credible action.
I see where youāre coming from. The LCS should be able to make the sale to the first willing customer and if Iām preventing that, I can see why itās an issue. I wouldnāt go as far as equating it with stealing or scamming since I donāt think itās much different than someone deciding not to buy Batman books and just dumping them in the first section they see which happens to be squirrel girl, but I wonāt do it anymore out of consideration of my always awesome LCS. Appreciate your insight.
My local shop, their employees are always sorting the stock (Iāve seen them doing it during the day hours and probably at night as well). I think they have people who try to tuck books behind others and they always try to make the stacks in order, from latest to oldest on the shelf so thereās no getting away from tucking books.
If the shop doesnāt have limits on books and they have pull folders, just ask them to throw in your folder and if you donāt buy within the week, they can put back on the shelf perhaps?
That is the way to do it. Spot on, Poyo.
Yeah thatās a good idea, Iāll start doing that.
I have now read the book a few more times and watched a few more videos. One of my biggest questions is who is the High Summonerās father? We see him pictured as a baby with his mother (War) in the background and presumably his father holding him in the foreground. His father is blue , similar to Apocalypse, however so too is the White Sword. What I didnāt notice until subsequent readings was that the White Sword has very similar summoner markings on his chest plate and on his helmet. Also, it should be noted that we are getting the High Summonerās version of a tale. It is very possible that Genesis (Apocalypseās wife) is in fact Annihilation. Perhaps there was no actual battle between the two and she simply evolved into the Annihilation character over time,
thus burying Genesis. The people of Arakko may despise Apocaplypse as many see him as a defector, even his family. The High Summoner was sent to find his grandfather, perhaps not as an ally, but to find him so they can punish him for abandoning them. Anyhoo, just a few additional thoughts on the High Summoner and the events that unfolded in X-Men #12.
X of swords is out this week. If u like xmen 12 then GET this book.
I loved it and the plot with Apocalypse is just amazing.
I think High Summoner refers to Apocalypse as his Grand Father.
Yes, that much we know for certain: Mom is War, Gransfather is Apocalypse. I am leaning towards the White Sword being his Pops.
Midtown has jacked up their price on remaining X-men 2 in stock
Seems like Midtown has turned more into a speculator vs a retail LCS.
How long can they play the game before customers get turned off?
Time will tell.
They somehow have ārestockedā aka jacked up prices for the recent hot books:
Spawn 309 $25
Dark Knights Death Metal 3 Federici Cover $17.43
Dark Knights Death Metal Legends Cover A $16.50
Yeah, War is his mother and since the 4 Horsemen are his āchildrenā, Apocalypse is his grandfather.
Theyāve been doing this for quite some time.
But X-Men #2 has been out for over a year now, they can price it accordingly to market trends now. I donāt see that as being a problem.
As for the newly released books, yes, thatās frowned upon when they do it the week of release.
All cheap-ish copies of the 1:25 are gone from eBay. $40 and up now.
I really like this character. X-Men #2 got me interested and then I was really excited to see the #12 cover. The interaction between Summoner and Rockslide when they play the game is awesome and Iām guessing there is some foreshadowing there of things to come.
If you are not reading, this is not one of those mutant first appearances where there is a random unnamed blue guy in the corner with eyes for handsā¦ This character is being written to play a major role. Apocalypse even seems deferential to him. You can read #2, 11, and 12 and get everything you need thus far.
Me? Iād buy all three books if you find them cheap. On that note, I still find it odd that the Pale Girl has flown under the radar (see Wolverine #2) but we shall see.
One interesting thing I noticed is the change from X-men #2 to X-men #12 Iām regards to the number of summoners. #2 lists 250 summoner minor, 8 summoner adept, and 1 high summoner. In issue #12 those numbers jump to 350 summoner minor, 22 summoner adept, and now 2 high summoners. I have no idea what this means but just thought Iād share.
