WTF Midtown Comics?

More often than not when I have an issue with a delivery it’s the smart post that’s shipped via UPS & USPS. Or media mail which likes to tour the rest of the country before arriving weeks later.

Midtown needs to get their stuff together and should be going above and beyond to effected customers. Delays can sometimes kill a spec book.

Not even spec either… Huge delays is just bad fir business overall.

That you can’t hold midtown accountable for as part of the delay, though. I’ve had a few people on ebay Ask me where packages are…and all I can do is tell them to look at the tracking (why can’t they do that? Annoying I have to tell them to use common sense) and see that it is moving (very slowly) but making progress. Like I said before…first class mail is now coach Mail…media is cargo/luggage hold).

I finally messaged them asking status on my 6/20 order (books came out 6/23) as both my 6/30 and 7/2 orders moved to shipped (although no tracking on either). I got the same response about delays due to covid preparedness. I mentioned it was odd that my later orders shipped but not my 6/20 order and they said it was in the queue. It’s got a Thor 5 1:25 in it so hope I do get it.

Queue:

  • a line or sequence of people or vehicles awaiting their turn to be attended to or to proceed.

  • a list of data items, commands, etc., stored so as to be retrievable in a definite order, usually the order of insertion.

Ask them why the order is behind the question of the later books, when it obviously should be higher in the queue.

Isn’t the whole point of having a “queue” is to process things in the order in which they are received and ready?

How does a later order jump ahead of a previous order if they are both in stock?

That answer is just insulting to one’s intelligence.

So this is why I said I didn’t want to complain. I was afraid of exactly this.

6/20 I ordered all three Thor 5 covers including the 1:25 for $20. It has stayed in processing ever since. My later orders on 6/30, 7/2, 7/6 all moved from processing to shipped (although I didn’t get tracking).

So last night I sent a email asking politely why my 6/20 order is still processing but my later orders moved to shipped. I stressed I still wanted the 6/20 order and didn’t mind waiting some more, but I found it odd that the later orders processed first.

Well first thing today I get an automated message that my order processed. Get excited, then I read it…

They canceled my 1:25 for $20. That was my thanks for complaining. Ugh.

Did you want me to just merge your new topic into this one?

No you can leave it. I didn’t expect you to find it so fast when it was in no mans land so I put a reply here. Says the same thing. You are pretty quick. Ha.

I change my default view to “Latest” view instead of the Category views so all new posts are always at the top of the page… makes things easy to keep track.

FYI, if you try and find that setting, you can find it under your Profile > Preferences > Interface > Default Home Page

They cancelled it because they know it can be sold for more than $20. It will end up on one of their recently restocked sections or Ebay. Just wait and see.

Which if becomes true, is pretty shitty business practices if you ask me. Talk about a quick way to lose one’s business…

Do you have proof of them doing this in the past? I’ve purchased a few books from them that popped in value and they shipped them to me. They even shipped me the buffy #15 1:25 that jumped in value.

I don’t have proof, I just don’t trust them. Why else would they cancel his book this long after ordering it?

My theory…and I have nothing to substantiate it just my theory…

I know I was the last one they sold as it went to out of stock after I bought mine as I went back to try to order another.

They may have had damages and thus they held my order waiting for replacements (although you’d think they would’ve told me that when I inquired last week on status). And with my second email last night said forget this guy he doesn’t want to wait and shipped the rest and refunded the 1:25.

I can’t imagine a large company like midtown would cancel preorders because books popped (although this one did pop very hard). Hold books back then sell at a profit, sure. But I can’t see them canceling purely because it went up.

I did put a watch on their listing though so I will see if it ever does come back in stock and then I will send an angry email that will do nothing. Lol.

Also of note I just all of a sudden got tracking on all 3 later orders that were marked shipped at various times over the last 7-10 days.

I placed an order with Mycomicshop.com this morning. It shipped by lunch time.

I bought books the same time as you from midtown before Thor #5 was limit 1 took the 20 copies out of my cart of Thor before I checked out and had no problems my order was received in a week.

Did you end up ordering any Thor?

I think the only thing holding mine back was the 1:25.

I didn’t order any Thor I removed all of them from my cart after seeing the spoilers.

See that’s the fishy part of it to me. They cancelled the 1:25 only. That’s a red flag to me, and also even if it was damaged, they should have told you on one of the emails you sent. Just my 2 cents
